Recent work, such as that by Andrew Newberg and his colleagues, suggest that the human mind is designed so as to generate " mystical" experiences when certain conditions are met, as in meditation, prayer, or often, times of stress and physical challenge.
The mystical experience produces a sense of being "united with all things." This is expressed by some Buddhists as "One Mind" and by theists as a union with the divine.
The religious impulse may arise from this experience.
Further indications are that people who are involved with religious practices live longer, happier lives than those who are not so involved.
While this does not prove or disprove the existence of God, it does suggest that mystical experiences and religious practices have a beneficial effect on people, and might well have evolved as a survival tool with which to deal with stress.

Ignorance is never bliss. I could be considered by some as educated, but I still believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Even after being subjected to the theories of mankind I still choose to believe. I find most theories are just that, theories, I have a personal relationship, not religious.

The question answered. Your thought is honest, your background in religion is gained from what you observe in your life time. by the things you have seen going on in the name of religion. The western world has allowed this to be because of it's religious leaders fornicating with the kings of the earth.
That was not always the case. In earlier times people had a much better understanding of creation and its creator. And believe it or not there are still people on earth that make an effort to find the truth.
A mistake that many people make is that when they see all this Hypocrisy they relate the scriptures to be part of it and also guilty.
From a historical point the scriptures seem to be right on?
The book has survived for thousands of years and most of that time its writings were on paper where as many cultures have vanished and they had their writings in stone?
My point is that every house has a builder and every builder uses blueprints. Every Car has a operating manual. I wouldn't rush to judgement about Creators and Scripture, and myth? However you are right on about todays professed religions.
(Ecclesiastes 2:14-16) 14Â As regards anyone wise, his eyes are in his head; but the stupid one is walking on in sheer darkness. And I have come to know, I too, that there is one eventuality that eventuates to them all. 15Â And I myself said in my heart: “An eventuality like that upon the stupid one will eventuate to me, yes, me.” Why, then, had I become wise, I overmuch so at that time? And I spoke in my heart: “This too is vanity.” 16Â For there is no more remembrance of the wise one than of the stupid one to time indefinite. In the days that are already coming in, everyone is certainly forgotten; and how will the wise one die? Along with the stupid one.

Most humans are intelligent and intuitive enough to realize that there must something bigger than themselves, even if they can't see it or fully understand it. Look around you at the natural world (not the city you might live in filled with man made distractions) and take the time to walk naked by the seaside - it soon becomes apparent that mankind is the creation, not the creator.

Why are you so sure other people feel a "deep connection with the expression 'ignorance is bliss'"? Do you?
Myth is more than true.

I don't think that ignorance is bliss. Knowledge comes with its stresses - the more you know, the more you get to think, dissect, worry, etc.
Still, ask someone who ignorantly lost money, opportunity or life how 'blissful' ignorance is.
All religion IS false, because all is a summary of opinions marketed as 'absolute truth'.
Whereas my subconscious, my intuitive, my feeling senses agree with this, it is a deduction my logical mind made.

What a bunch of dribble. It takes courage to say you believe in God today. It takes courage to stand up for what is right in the face of a society that is going to hell in a hand basket. It is easy to follow the crowd and live like the devil. Talk ignorance being bliss.

Instead why not ask "Is a man strong enough not to die and be eaten by worms.?" Where are the great thinkers?
If they are right, they are worm food. How then are they superior? No God - no hope. No hope - no meaning.
Why even argue the point?
