Ok - I have mentioned my creationist relatives before - for those of you in America its probably not that unusual. I live in the UK where it is unusual to have a relative that is a practicing moderate so they are very very rare when they come that fanaticle.

Here is my problem, it wasnt until I met them (when I was 16) that I started to question my beliefs. I just couldnt justify what I believed with anything close to what they believed. I have followed my questioning down the years and am now very happily Pagan. I have healed any bad feelings I have for them and no longer get angry when I think about how they feel about just about everything.

However the urge persists to write them a letter to thank them for their help on putting me on the path to Paganism. They would be horrified but at least they might stop sending me christmas cards and letters with lots of bible verses in. All of them are in a context I wouldnt have agreed with even when I was Christian.

What do I do?

New World Order is the ground basis for a One Government World.
Christianity is the basis for a One God the lord Jesus Christ. Does anyone notice the same way the government raids foreign countries, Christians raid foreign countries with christianity.

So do they send in the christians with their bible and make believers. Then send in the troops and when hell breaks loose, they dont worry because the christians already told them about it?

Doctors have long been aware that if a patient believes a treatment is doing them good, then some good will be achieved. Even if the pills they are taking are no more than sweetened chalk dust. The placebo effect has many similarities with religion. I wonder if there have been any studies to compare the life expectancies and overall health condition of Atheists with believers.

-force is one of their means of communication: bombing of abortion clinics, bombing of buildings. threatening others to a fiery hell.
-they're both judgemental and eager to damn you if u don not live like they live.
-instead of love, their most powerful emotion is fear. they both fear a god and live life revolving around fear.
-they both refuse to accept other people's faiths and intolerant of them of others that think differently.
-they're both patriarchal societies. they worship mainly the males and neglect the females: jesus, allah
-they both think if they dont pray to a god at a certain time, they will get punished.
-they don't take responsibilty for their actions. it is either god or satan that told them to do something.
-they both need to be BRIBED with a reward in order to do something "good". they cant be good just for the sake of being good. ie: promise of heaven, 72 virgins etc.

the Bible is true?

"Dr.John Garstang, director of the British School of Archaeology in Jerusalem and of the Deptartment of Antiquities of the Palestine Government, excavated the ruins of Jericho (1929-36). He found pottery and scarab evidence that the city had been destroyed about 1400 B.C., coinciding with Joshua's date, and, in a number of details, dug up evidence confirming the Biblical account in a most remarkable way."

Why do so many people here feel that they can learn science from a clergyman and then debate scientific principles with scientists? I see it all the time . . . "I can prove that evolution is wrong" or "Evolution is impossible. Many scientists agree."

Where did these people learn about science . . . in Sunday school? Do they even know what the Scientific Method is? They often talk derisively about what they call the theory of evolution. Do they even know what a theory is?

I doubt it. I guess you just don't learn these things when you learn science from the church lady.

(They know donkey's talk though. They're pretty darned sure about that.)

Jihadist warfare throught history can be distinguished from almost all other war in terms of the "self-righteousness". Other than maybe the Nazis, all other warfare doesnt have the distinct Islamic phenomena. Warfare based simply on "we are compelled by God, to impose his law upon all people".

Educated people never respond to this remark with the knee jerk "ohh yea, what about the crusades!" because they know that crusaders were called upon only AFTER Jihad had taken the holyland and rampaged through europe. It was now a matter of life or death, not Christs external command to murder Christianty upon the entire world. They were fighting for THEIR VERY SURVIVAL.

Read Gautier or Durants accounts of histories greatest genocide, the Arab Muslim invasions of India. The invading Muslims are not described as self-seeking barbarians...noooo, indeed such barbarians look angelic in comparison....noo, these Jihadists were singular proud and self righteous, no pagan hindu could be spared..

By pattern i mean that they need all 'believers' to be fundermentalist followers of one of the big three (Jewdaism, Christianity or Islam).

When a Pagan, or a moderate/liberal God follower, Bhuddist, ect gets thrown into the mix they get a wee bit lost.

Also instead of using the well thought out agrugements of the FSM or the IPU(MHHNBS) they resort to pathetic arguements about sky fairys and santa. I'm all for discussion and disagreement but isnt this a bit closeminded and just plain boring. Dont the other athiests get annoyed or at least boared of this?
