No, any religion is the perfect storm of self-righteousness and ignorance.
Muslims believe they are going to heaven by suicide bombing and waging holy war, or as they call it, Jihad (sp?)
Christians think this idea is ludacris, suicide is a sin, you'll be sent to hell!
Christian countries tend to be democracies. And lets not forget about such incidents as the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition. Those are Jihads as well.
Islamic believers think that you need a man who is selected by God to be their leader, someone who has the will to do what best for his people, even if they don't realize it.
You see? Everyone is self-rightous and ignornat to their own beliefs, including atheists, of which I am one! Beliefs are a part of life that only cause arguements, but they're there so we gotta make do and try to get along.

I think every religion has many followers who combine self-righteousness and ignorance. Unfortunately, the Islamics who are like that have been in the news a lot lately, but there are many Muslims who are not like that and there are many Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists, and anything else who are. I think the problem has much more to do with human nature than with religion.

Sorry, but christianity was around first, and therefore has 7 centuries of pre-islamic history to make it the primary holder of this disintcion..

First of all, I would like to mentioned I do not give a hoot about Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Budhism or any other religion, dogma, Philosophy, theory, etc.
I am not an atheist or theist, but a free-thinker in search for the truth. I have studied comparative religions in depth for over 7 years, mythology, linguistics and literature and science.
I have been defending Jews, Christian and Muslims alike as well as hindus and Budhists; the thread of my defence is a principle with beads strung on it called LOGIC. The only thing I care about is the PRINCIPLE. I regret to say that there are many idiots on this web who are totaly ignorant of principles and ethics, are under-educated fools who jut parrot and mimic.
Islam and Muhammad, the phrophet of islam, have been subject for attack by atheist and non-athiests for centuries, based on slanders, fabrications of proofs, twisting the meaning of some verses quouted from the qur'an and utilization of biased sources written by orientalists who hate the religion without producing a shred of real evidence for their hatred.
Example: Mr. WhyNotAskDon wrote a lengthy answer that sounds like a gigantic drum. The problem with drums is when you scratch open the skin, you find nothing but vacuum. All facts mentioned are twisted, sources fabricated or corrupt, quotes taken out of the context with no consideration to why, when and the situation during which they were revealed. It is a whole well-established department of studies in the Islamic jurisprudance of which Mr. Don knows nothing. Mr. Don has not come with anything new. Same old stuff that has been rebutted and refuted, therefore I am not going to repeat the old answers for such allegations. It will be a waste of my time and irrilivant.
As I mentioned before, I studied comperative religion for a long time, and despite the fact that I have my own belief in a certain truth other than all mundane religions, if I have no choice but to choose a religion from amongst current religions, I would not hesitate to choose ISLAM. I am not saying ISLAM is the only true religion, but it is indeed the most LOGICAL one, and what I care about is nothing but REASON.
I have had discussions over 25 years of my life with both atheists and theist and I find both of them are nothing but arrogant, ignorant, argumentative and insecure. Their arguments are based on no ground and are refutable. Their problems is they are totally blind and their brains totally fogged by what they believe is the right thing. No room for doubt as if they have been there at the begining of time witnessing the unfolding of the big story.
History of every religion stinks (including atheism as I consider it a religion , too.) and every religion has a house made of glass. Isn't it, then, idiotic to throw others with stones. When I say history I mean history, not the religion itself. We make history, religions don't. Religions, whatever they are, faulty or not, are innocent of all the attrocities committed in their names. Hinduism is a very spiritual religion, but Ghandi was killed by a hindu. Jesus was a man of peace, but he got killed by his own people, etc.
I am not anti or pro-religion. I am against relgious fanatics, be they Christian or Muslim, who grip their religion by the collar, twist its neck to froce it to suite their own purposes. Therefore, I do not blame religions for what is happening, but the followers of religions like Mr. Don who is nothing but a representation of malice, hatred and ignorance. His end jusifies the means.
Islam is not the perfect storm of self-righteousness and ignorance. Some Muslims are. Muhammad is not a rapist or a killer. He was chosen as one of the greates characters in history on top of the list of 100, by one of the American writers who published his book during the 70's. His criteria was achievement. I have read Muhammad's biography from different sources, biased and unbiased and I had to come to the conclusion that he was great and innocent of all the allegations waged against him.
People, Why do not you let it rest? Live and let live! Do whatever you wish as long as you do not harm other people! Stop this stinky crusade against each other! Leave Judaism, Christianity, islam, atheism be. Get red of the baggage of hatred which is passed over from one generation to the other because of attrocities of the past. In a nutshell, have some brains in your craniums!
