Good point. It would be helpful to have some revelation on the things that didn't exist in ancient times. I think the scriptures say in Ephesians 4 that his church is built upon the foundation of apostles and prophets. He said there would be false prophets in the last days, to me there means there would also be true ones. Otherwise he would have just stated there would be no more prophets.

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ."(Eph. 4:11)

Amos 3:7
Surely the Lord will do nothing but he revealeth his secrets to his servants the prophets.

Deut 4:2 says not to add anything after that do rev 22 is out.

1 Corinthians 13:8 says...whether there are gifts of prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease... So the gift of prophesy through the prophets and apostles came to an end. The last apostle was John and that gift died with him.

Whereas the apostle Paul showed that the gift of tongues was to cease from the Christian congregation, he pointed to love as the permanent distinguishing characteristic of true Christians. Jesus did also, when he said: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.

Today the Christian congregation no longer needs the gift of tongues or prophecy but it does need the fruit of the spirit found at Galatians 5:22,23.

Does God care, yes he does. He cared so much that he allowed his son, Jesus, to die for us and as king of God's kingdom he will pour out blessing on us until there is no more want. Very soon now.

And no our Creator did not run out of things to tell us. There will be new scrolls yet to be opened.

Jesus said, "the law and the prophets were until John".
John the Baptist was the last prophet.

Apostles were the 12 who were part of the inner circle of Jesus who actually lived, traveled with, and were taught by him. Jesus bestowed special powers on these 12, as He also did Paul, who met Jesus on the Damascus Road.

Jesus loves us,and has plenty to tell us. It is all written down by the apostles, and it is in the New Testament, which is just as meaningful today as it was 2000 years ago.

The dictionary lists one definition of apostle as, "A passionate adherent; a strong supporter". There are plenty of such people following Jesus today. So there ARE apostles on earth.

As for modern day prophets, there are many of them as well. For example, I believe that John Paull II was a great prophet.

Apostles - disciples (students) of Jesus for a mission.

Prophet was a spokesman for God; he spake in God's name and by his authority. He is the mouth by which God speaks to men, and hence what the prophet says is not of man but of God

Hmm, I wounder if Priests, missionaries, Reverends could be called Apostles and Prophets?

The Apostles all died off. They were a specific number of men who were touched by Jesus, and appointed by Him to minister. All except John were killed (martyred) for their preaching. John was exiled to Patmos off the coast of modern-day Turkey, until his release in his old age.

A Prophet is one who speaks the words of God to the people.
So, technically, if your minister, pastor, or priest preaches and teaches the Word of God, then he too is a Prophet.

God still loves us very much, and His Word contains plenty of things to tell us.

Jesus founded one church.

He gave the universal, world-wide church he founded power and authority to lead all to salvation.

Baptism into the church ... not prophets ... not apostles ... is the ordinary and typical means of salvation for those in today's world.

And yes, God told us all that was necessary when he was here.

His apostles faithfully passed along Christ's authentic teachings to the church, which continues to pass along to us today, all those sacred truths that were entrusted into its' care.

The Prophets told of Christ's coming. They spoke to the people on God's behalf. They told the people how God wanted Them to live. Jesus came. Told us how to find God ourselves. Showed us how to live. Now it's up to us.

There are, but society calls them crazy. They don't fit into the norm without being ridiculed and challenged spiritually in the eyes of men. Because they don't fit into the norm of religion. There is a lot more to this human spiritual story.
