I think one thing people can do isto stop thinking of their own petty differences and following the words other people say that lead to unnecessary wars (dare I even say his name there?), and start realising that no matter what you have been taught as a child, you can never fully expect anyone to respect your own religion if you shove it down other people's throats by saying "I'll pray for you", "Everyone knows that 'such-and-such' religion is the TRUE religion!" and also putting other people's beliefs down just because you are too narrow minded to respect someone else's beliefs that they do not match your own.
That is not just for the Islamic religion, but every worldwide religion, perhaps if we all work on that for the next 10,000 years, the Human species could finally start to evolve into more enlightened beings.

What can WE do? Why sould WE have to do anything? This is my country and I'll be durned if I am going to study a religion I have no interest in when my own is so fascinating!!
What can YOU do? Check out the library and attend their worship services.

The inter net is full of information on the Islamic religion. Just look for information about Muhammad, the Koran, etc and you will find it.

Do like I did and read their Quran. Remember the congressman who insisted in swearing on Thomas Jefferson's Quran? Ask yourself why President Jefferson even had a Quran, one of the most expensive books then, the only English translation of that Arabic text. He bought one because the U.S. was dealing with Moslem terrorist in the early 19th century (exactly as we are in the early 21st century.) He wanted to know what they were about, so he read their stuff. After reading it, he concluded that they cannot be bargained with, but must be defeated to be respected by them. (And, sure 'nuff, paying them blood money only made them demand more money and they still robbed and killed.) Thus, I give the same advice that President Jefferson gave: defeat, no deals, no treaties.
Read their Quran; it's as scary as "Mein Kampf."

Read histories of Islam based on the latest historical research, biographies of the Prophet Muhammad and a good translation of the Qur'an.
If you want to understand Muhammad and Islam you should avoid reading biased fundamentalist Christian pamphlets and other unreliable material.

Study american history these are all one in the same !! Koran was to KNOW THY ENEMY and that is why it was in the library, dont let him LIE to you !!!!!!!!! Perhaps hes subconsciously digging at our forefathers beliefs that islam was evil,,by trying to convince the public the Jefferson had it for some other reason !!!!!!!!!!
