To have everyone believe what they believe and just live their own lives without imposing their beliefs on everyone? Or do you want everyone to stop believing in God? I don't know if anyone watched CNN but here is the vid. If any of you know me you already know my thoughts. But what do you all think?

Religious faiths will never allow us to live in complete peace.

I want religious faith to be "no more"... then again, I would never force anyone to give up their beliefs.

I'm fine with believers retaining their false beliefs if they can manage to stop imposing them on others.

I have serious doubts that they can manage to do so, though. I suspect that the worst "Community Guidelines" violators here are utterly unaware of their violations, and believe that they're justified in their behavior on the basis of those false beliefs about their gods.

I suspect that the anti-abortionists, anti-stem cell research folks, anti-homosexual folks, creationists, and so on all are blissfully unaware that they're the problem, that they're imposing their false beliefs on others. The main case in point: the creationists' argument that they're promoting fair discussion of "both sides of the issue". I think that only a few of them are really aware that creationism is about censoring science in favor of religion, and that the typical grassroots creationist honestly believes that replacing science education with creationism amounts to "presenting both sides of the argument".

I also couldn't agree more strongly with Brendan's point (below).

The large majority of us don't care if others believe, we just wish everyone would leave everyone else alone about it. Let people believe what is right for them, and if they want your (whoever 'your' is) religion then they will seek it out.

"Believe what I believe" is a religious concept. Any atheists that seem to hold that are generally probably former believers that have not yet broken the habit.

The ideal situation would be for everyone to stop believing in God. But I'm not going to try and convert people because I don't think that works. People have to want to change, I'm not going to try and force them.

Oh my I really shouldn't comment I'm in Godless, moral less weak Europe that is falling beneath the mighty Holy America.

WHAT, I am so sorry but what planet are those people on? And since when did your right to your own religion mean that other people were forced to follow it in compulsory places like schools. Very very strange, how many myths about Europe are perpetrated in your country, its weird I'm sorry it is just strange.

It is necessary that all religious faith be abolished. Religion is a cancer that corrupts all it touches.

However, enlightenment cannot be forced. It must come on its own time. Until then, the religious people should just stay the hell away from me.

The atheists that I know and love are not interested in converting anyone. They just want to be respected for their right to believe what makes sense to them. I feel that way as well.

We all have different opinions because we have no ideology to pony up to.

I for one would like to see movement away from faith BEFORE war of Islam vs. Christianity/Judaism destroys us all. I know that makes me an egocentric, atheist bastard, but so be it!

Theists, especially christians, try to control and restrict us based on their views. If all christians stop crusading against science, culture, art, sex and sexuality, religious freedom and such, and stop telling everybody else they're going to be tortured throughout eternity unless they join you, I assure you that you won't encounter nearly as much hostility.

Monica: This would be like me saying Hitler is a hero to christians.
