No.
Mainstream 'moderate' religion gives the great majority of reasonable people a place to belong between extreme conservatives and extreme liberals and, even worse, between those who wish to eliminate religion all together and those who wish for force their religion on others.
With love in Christ.

The clam that Moderation opens doors to extremism is a little silly.
Does Ketchup lead the way to Tabasco sauce? Do Donuts lead the way to Wedding cake? Does reading the Weekly World News lead to a PhD in Astrophysics?
If a person doesn't like an extreme view, then he should fight that extreme view, not waste his time with a softer version of that view.

Socialism and Communism don't share the same ideology. Marx wasn't a socialist, he was a communist, so Das Capital doesn't have much application to the modern welfare state.
Moderate Christians and Christian extremists share the same textbook.

I disagree. Blaming moderates for the thoughts and actions of extremists is denying the real problem. Extremism needs to be held accountable for its own sins, not excused by blaming people not even involved with it.

You frame the issue all wrong.
The issue really is "whether some religious doctrines, give rise to a substantially larger proportion of violence, as compared to other beliefs, done because of, or for, the religion itself."

there is a bunch of nuts out there doing stupid stuff in the name of religion. Then there is a bunch of political nuts who are fobic of communism when it is about gone in the world.
People will use fear, lies,,threats and outright misrepresentations to control the masses and if religion does it yes they will use it.

You could probably say a great many things, but the capacity to say them does not mean that they are true.
