Did Jesus descend into hell after he died? I remember hearing this in church when I was younger. He desended into hell and rose up on the third day. Why did he descend into hell?

I really only want serious answers. This question was not to spark an opportunity to be cruel or pick on others. It's been a long time since I have read the bible and was wondering if I missed something. I have heard they are also opening a museum that is going to explane how man and dinosaurs existed together. Any intelligent information on this subject would be appreciated.

The Koran permits the husband to beat his wife, and there are lots of beatings of women legally, and I repeat, legally in Islam. And a verse in the Koran says that if you fear rebellion from women, banish them in bed, that means don't have sex with her as a punishment, and then beat them. In fact, in one of the translations, 'scourge' them. You can imagine. So if a Muslim man beats his wife, he would not feel guilty because the Koran permits him to do that.
when you come to the Bible, you read the words of apostle Paul, "Men love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her." Do you see the difference? Love is a sacrificial gift. In the Koran it says "beat your wife, banish her in bed." Two different standards. Then, when you come to inheritance in the Koran, the woman, the daughter will inherit half of what the son receives. If you have a son and a daughter, the son will have a full inheritance. The daughter will have only half of what your son will have. You, the wife of the Muslim, are under total control. She has no control on the body of her husband. But if you go to [1 Corinthians chapter 7], you read that the woman doesn't have authority over her body, but the husband. The husband doesn't have authority over his body but the wife, so it is equivalent.

A Lord owned a large beautifull land, which had many people living on it whom He loved. One day, the Lord decides to take a journey away from his land. He leaves no body in charge , because every body on the land are his children, both daughters and sons. As time goes by, some of the people begin to lose faith and fear, so much in fact, that they begin to believe that if they do not do certain things, they will be punished when there Father, the Lord, returns.

They give themselves the title of Leader, and begin to preach to others in the land, there belief s, and warn everyone that if they do not do as the Leader says , then there Father, the Lord, shall punish them when He returns.

Some begin to follow the Leader, and others decide not to, for they know How much there Father, the Lord truely loves them.

Yet the Leader and his followers, decide to banish those whom do not follow him, and throw others out of the land.

One day, the Lord of the land, there Father, finally Returns. And when He does, He notices that many of his children were not there.

Asking around , He finds out what happened, and therefore, brings forth to Him, the leader and all the leaders followers.

And the Lord, there Father, asks them ," You sent forth some of my children from there Home here in my land . Why did you do this?"

The leader and his followers answered," We did this for You, showing our love to you we did so in your name too , to cleanse your land my lord father."

With this, the Lord, Father got Very angery, " You did NOTHING for ME ! You have sent forth MY CHILDREN into Darkness and what s worse is You did so In my NAME !! For this YOU shall recieve the SAME punishment you gave those you judged."

And with that said, He banished the leader and all his followers , and threw them out of his land into darkness

So, when is a Christian congregation going to pull the trigger...so to speak...on this verse?

2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NIV

They entered into a covenant to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul. 13 All who would not seek the LORD, the God of Israel, were to be put to death, whether small or great, man or woman.

You folks aren't going to do the whole car bomb thing are you?

Do you believe that we'll be reunited with our loved ones and that we will recognize them as being part of our previous life?

Or will we just see everyone as being children of God and not recognize anyone individually?

I saw comedian Lewis Black's routine the other day, and he says (being Jewish) that the Christians misinterpreted the Old Testament. Of course he was joking but there was also some good points. He said that most Jews know full well that the OT shouldn't be taken literally (including the creation story) and that most of the stories were just written to get people's mind off the bad events of the time or to explain things they couldn't explain. He also said you don't see Jewish rabbis going around trying to interpret the NT, which I thought was hilarious.

I just want to know what Christians think of that, the Bible can obviously be interpreted many different ways. How do you know who's right? Wouldn't it be better to use your own judgement compared to some priest's?

Jesus said, "religion is spiritual fraud and religion is the worse invention of humanity."
No one, in a religion, made it back home to Heaven, NO ONE! so why do these brainwashed and brain-dead people believe in religion. religions make you believe in their religion, it has Nothing to do with God or Spiriuality!
Create a private, personal, direct, divine relationship with Our Creator (God) and you'll make it to Heaven, I promise!

I`m from Belfast,Northern Ireland, but on browsin through this forum i`v become aware that many users here are from th States, arguably th most influential politcal players on th global scene, and what concerns me is a common theme of th right being accused of small-minded argument based on psuedo-religous beliefs, and th left similarily being accused of godless immorality in their decision making process`s.

So whats going on over there?
Why this mutual intolerance of those on th opposite end of idealogical thought,I`m genuinely concerned because my own land has seen hellish atrocity perpetuated for political cause, which has then been justified on religous grounds and i wonder if a superpower like America is showin signs of similiar sectarianism.
Are there no faith-centred people on th left, and where are th secularists that form th right ?

Of course i`m also interested in th opinions of individuals of other nations, for their perspective on US and their own homelands.
