The guy in Mark 12 was not far, does that mean he was close.

I just answered another question, and it occured to me that there are quite a few similarities between somebody trying to force you to have sex with them, and somebody trying to force you to believe what they do. In both cases I have rejected their advances, only to have them try to force the issue, despite my repeated and insistant 'No'. If I keep on denying, they will become angry, and might even resort to violence.

So, similar or not?

Are biblical taboos more enticing than the taboos of other religions?

1. Do you think intellectualism will dictate to goverment religion is hazardous to the social infrastructure of civillization, and therefore made illegal?

2. Do you think the Middle East conflict will be "fuel" behind the elimination of religion in a new globalized goverment?

3. People who have faith or religion are being ridiculed as "weak-minded", "primitive", "unhealthy", and a "hazard" to modern civilization by the faithless. Do you think these personal attacks on men's person are validated because of one's adherence to faith or not?

4. Many ahiests consider the faithful fools and a threat to goverment order and peace. Is this the prevailing thought amongst the unfaithful? Are the ones who pratice religion truly a threat to goverment and society?

5. Will there come a day when anyone found with a Bible in his hand will be imprisoned?

6. Do the unfaithful really believe religion is the "root of all evil" in our modern civilization?

About 6 people told me that nowhere in the Bible does it mention disapproval of wealth.

Well fools, here you go.

"I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God"

Matthew 19:24.

Face it. Jesus was a poor as dirt. He would be so ashamed of some of the Christian tycoons of today.

Satan has no authority or power to dwell within Believers filled with the Holy Spirit, which would be a requirement to inflict one with an illness.

Also, there are many scriptures which describe a "thorn in the flesh" as being persecution from Unbelievers who harass, attack, or attempt to persecute Christians in any way. Unbelievers are not filled with the Holy Spirit, so they are open to demonic influence.

Here are a few scriptures which describe thorns in the flesh as unbelievers: Joshua 23:13, Numbers 33:55, Judges 2:3, Ezekiel 2:6, Luke 6:44

So it would seem, that Satan Buffets Christians, in this case Paul, by causing "others" to persecute the Believer to weaken their Faith or cause fear. So why do many insist Paul's thorn in the flesh was a physical illness or speech problem? What scriptural basis is there for that interpretation? Or have many assumed the word "flesh" implies it is physical. It seems clear that "flesh" is symbolic in nature. Thanks.

I keep hearing this all the time
" studies have shown that prayer worsens illness "
please someone explain to me how that is even possible ?

ok even taking God and miracles out of the equation
and thinking of it as possitive thoughts being sent
how can that be bad ?
even if you think that there is no magical and mystical stuff out there ... how can prayer make things worse
if anything ... nothing happens
but a negative ?
someone explain please ?

How do you think religion will evolve.

I would imagine it to head into the direction of eastern paths and all of the deities/spiritual entities with human characteristics will find it's way into the mythology section.

It seems to me that many Christians are sadists. It makes me sick to think that people can find comfort in thinking that others will eternally burn in flame and damnation. I strongly belief that it is bogus and people should refine christianity and get rid of the aspects of hell. Any input?

"That man did a lot of bad things, but thats okay because hes going to hell."

I've found that typical Christians aren't any more moral than any other Buddhist, Jew, or atheist. I usually can't if they're Christian unless if they actually tell me. For example, although Jesus disapproved of extreme wealth, well, plenty of the Christians I've met are EXTREMELY WEALTHY and materialistic.

Yet they call themselves a Christian, because they want Jesus' love and protection, and to guarantee themselves a spot in a place called "heaven."

Seems like quite an unfair trade, doesn't it?

And to those who donate to Christian organizations; you know at least part of the reason you do that is to either feel better about yourself, sleep better at night, improve your resume, or to go to heaven.

I am always hearing about the one God , or your God is not the true God etc
but are you the same person to everyone you know ?
are you a mum/dad to your kids , a daughter/son to parents , a colleague to your workmates , a friend to ... erm your friends lol

why can't God be many things to many people
we all need different things in life due to how we were raised , what we believe , our cultural difference , what we can and cannot accept
do you not think God knows this and is different for each person ?

Why or why not?
I know people who claim they are christians who curse all the time! The only form of Christianity that I know that says cursing is bad is Jehovah Witnesses.
Thanks for answering!

I've seen many questions about why do religions, force, assume, ignore, and all that other junk that people go off about when they have no idea? I find it extremely disrespectful. If someone wants to have a grown up conversation and ask a true question go for it ... but why do they act so silly and bash everyone? It makes no sense to me.
Does anyone else find it disrespectful?
Does it confuse you?
Does it anger you?
Or are you one of the askers out here that goes on a ranting rage instead of finding facts?

I've wondered where all of these askers are coming from for a while and I just can't figure it out ...
