I've found that typical Christians aren't any more moral than any other Buddhist, Jew, or atheist. I usually can't if they're Christian unless if they actually tell me. For example, although Jesus disapproved of extreme wealth, well, plenty of the Christians I've met are EXTREMELY WEALTHY and materialistic.

Yet they call themselves a Christian, because they want Jesus' love and protection, and to guarantee themselves a spot in a place called "heaven."

Seems like quite an unfair trade, doesn't it?

And to those who donate to Christian organizations; you know at least part of the reason you do that is to either feel better about yourself, sleep better at night, improve your resume, or to go to heaven.

One, the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. God wants us to be prosperous, Many great things can be done with great wealth, Missionaries can be sponsored, churches can be funded etc...
Also you are not allowing for human error, which I assume you allow for yourself. Christians are by not stretch of the imagination perfect or even good. We are only forgiven. I do want the Love and Protection of Jesus Christ, but you do not obtain that by works...only by belief and faith.
Second, Do you not do things out of the goodness of your heart? Does it make you feel good to do nice things? Do you ever do it partly because it make YOU happy? Do you not sleep better knowing you did something good for whatever you think to be a good cause? C'mon stop putting Christians on a pedestal ( we can do that all by ourselves unfortunate) We are still just like ever body else only we know our need for a savior.
I am sorry that you have had a bad experience, and you will continue to see those bad examples throughout your life, because Christians are human, Please don't let that discourage you in having a relationship with someone who is perfect, who will meet your every expectation, who will never let you down.
Thank you for asking this question

Actually, the Bible doesn't say anything about God disapproving of wealth. It only says that it is easier for wealthy men to go astray.
But to you question.... I have known plenty of people of other faiths that are just as moral as Christians. That is no what makes us Christians. We accept that all of mankind in sinful, and that only through the grace of God and the blood of Jesus Christ can we be redeemed of our sin. The Bible teaches us to live moral lives, but that is NOT what makes someone a Christian. Being a true Christian requires repentence of your sins (which we all need) and knowing that Jesus died for our forgiveness.

to start with, no human being is perfect. As Christians we all mess up just like any other. a lot of us take advantage of the fact that we have a forgiving God. you also have to remember that there are a lot of people that call themselves Christians but really aren't. there are some that don't know the true meaning of being a Christian, but as long as they keep confessing they believe in God, around the right time, i know they'll come around to actually being the Christian they claim to be, but don't expect us to be perfect because we're not. we do have a forgiving God though.

being wealthy isn't wrong unless you put your money before God and use it greedily

i call myself a Christian because i believe God sent His son Jesus to die on the cross to save me from sin. i also see God working in my life. He has done so much for me. i wish you could see how much He has done for you, but it's hard to experience something like that when you don't "truly" believe. besides who wouldn't want a spot in heaven, you should want one to. i can't wait to see my powerful father who has done so much for us. He's just amazing, you can't seriously sit her and tell me you don't want to go to heaven and see Him.

Its not a fair trade, you're right. I deserve to be in the lowest part of hell. The thing is , God provided a way to escape it. I believed it. Now I live it. problem is I fall well short of God's standard. Read Romans Chapter 7. Paul, one of the greatest Christians ever, struggled with sin.

First of all Jesus was not against material things. He loved good wine (it was his first miracle) and nice clothing (the soldiers that placed him on the torture state placed bets to see who would get them). The Apostle Paul outlined the balanced view of riches: "Tell those who are rich in this present world not to be contemptuous of others, and not to rest the weight of their confidence on the transitory power of wealth but on the living God, who generously gives us everything for our enjoyment. Tell them to do good, to be rich in kindly actions, to be ready to give to others and to sympathise with those in distress. Their security should be invested in the life to come, so that they may be sure of holding a share in the life which is real and permanent."-1 Timothy 6:17-19, Phillips

The other point in terms of christians that PERSIST in doing the things they teach are wrong? At 2 Tim. 3:5, after listing other traits that would be exhibited by people living in the last days was that they would be " having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power". For the occasional mistake? "All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.

Where did you get the crazy idea that being wealthy is a sin? It says nothing like that in the bible, nothing.

It does say the love of money is the root of all evil, but that's addressing the heart and it's desire. Money is a-moral.

God blesses His faithful and the first place that blessing often shows up is in the pocket book.

Nobody's perfect, if we were we wouldn't need God. Some people lie,cheat,steal...ect. the point is everyone is guilty of some kind of sin. When your life is over it doesn't matter what anyone else may done, but what you have done with Jesus Christ. I wouldn't worry about those other people they will have to answer to God Same as you.

Be careful! God will judge you using the measure you use to judge others. You just told me you know what God expects of you but you couldn't care less because someone else isn't living up to this standard. Christ is the standard we live by, not what other Christians do.

Christians are just "saved".....
not perfect.....
and all those who call themselves "christians"
are not true Christiansfor many only claim the title for their own greedy purposes.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 7: 21

Where did Jesus disapprove of wealth and materials?

Where is your proof that people that donate to Christian organizations do it for this reason?
