Yet another "Why are we Christians being persecuted" question. You have a born against, fundamentalist. reactionary President in the White House. You've infaltrated the school boards. You have the Supreme Court. WHAT ELSE DO YOU PEOPLE WANT??????????

So far the reaction to extremist Islam has been extremist Christianity.

1. Since when have intellectualism and the Government gone hand in hand? The Government I see is populist.

2. So far the reaction to extremist Islam has been extremist Christianity.

3. Who is ridiculing who? Are you complaining about posts on an internet board? The country is more fundamentalist now then in the past 50 years. It goes hand in hand with how it;s less educated and less well off economically.

4. Many atheists don't care what you people believe as long as you don;t force us what to believe. Somehow laws passed to stop Christian domination of everyone else is discrimination to you people.

5. Given the recent events in American history the better question is will we be imprissoned for not having a bible.

6. The "unfaithfull" think bad people are the root of evil. Some are religious...some aren;t. Pat Robertson is an evilo religious person. Saddam Hussein was an evil non-religious one.

In the United States there is a Constitution, and that lays out LAWS about the 'separation of church and state' which would make it IMPOSSIBLE HERE to 'outlaw religion' ... and I am sorry but I am what you would call an 'intellectual' (intelligent person who can think and reason for myself), and I am also a 'good Catholic' and a person who believes the 'theory of evolution' is pretty darned good to explain the 'growth' of humanity over animals, etc. My mother's brother (my uncle) was an Atheist and a Political Science Professor, who was married to a faithful Episcopalian ... and they both would agree with me that religion can NOT be 'outlawed' in the U.S. We don't have a 'world government' and if the current U.N. is any sign of 'what could come' then we have at least a century before we really need to 'worry' about a 'globalized government' ... so if you are 'faithful' and are 'worried' I suggest that you 'get involved' in 'politics' and prove to people that 'intellectuals' can be 'faithful,' too.

What do you mean in the Future. government and people have been trying to supress religion in one form or another for centuries.

England supressed the Catholic faith for years, the germans tried to eradicate the Jewish faith ( actually many countries including Russia had a pretty good go as well), China has banned Falun Gon which is christian based. America was founded by Pilgrims escaping persecution. Catholic countries have persecuted Protestants over the centuries. the American Government banned religion in public schools. I could go on...

The middle East conflict is deeper than religion, religion is one small aspect of the conflict. It is a question of land rights as well.

People of all faiths have been ridiculed for all sorts of reasons, sometimes by other faiths yet religion is still strong and vital to most cultures in the world .

People in many Moslem countries are already being arrested for possessing bibles and preaching Christianity, the Taliban actually executed people who owned Bibles.

I am sure the unfaithful do not look upon religion favourably which is why they are the ubnfaithful.

I am sure though that there are many like me who do not support organised religion yet have a faith in a supreme being by whatever name his called.

I also dont have faith in many Governments and world leaders or Big Corporation saying they will act ethically in relation to Global warming. In many cases I see these as the root of all evil motivated by greed and power.

We have bigger problems to face in this world than religion, certainly I accept that some leave a lot to be disired but that is a view of perspective.

I actually think intellectuals in many cases such as social engineering are as bigger threat to society ....many governments have tried to eradicate them as well.

We find the answer in the 17th chapter of Revelation. There we are introduced to a harlot, “Babylon the Great,” representing all the world’s false religions. The harlot is riding a scarlet-colored wild beast that has seven heads and ten horns. (Revelation 17:3, 5, 7-12) The wild beast represents the United Nations organization. Why the symbolism? Babylon used to be a kingdom worshipping false gods and participating in pagan worship. The beast, beasts are used to represent government, as eagle is America and others...they were in the prophecy combined into one...literally the governments/countries being one and united.

Just as the ancient Assyrian destroyed Samaria, the scarlet-colored wild beast “will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire.” (Revelation 17:16) Thus the modern-day Assyrian (nations associated with the UN) will deal false religions with a mighty blow and will crush her out of existence.

-----i believe its starting now...

I was always under the impression just the opposite was happening! The religious right wants to get the teaching of evolution taken out of school, even though it's been prov-en. It's not just a theory any more. Not to mention laws passed by the government that are more theocratic than democratic. The religious right likes to accuse atheists of persecuting them, when it's them doing most of the persecuting.

I agree that for the period of particular palms, faith may well be an particularly risky element - that is undesirable sufficient if somebody's loopy sufficient to wish to kill harmless those with out them questioning God's on their area (ain't that appropriate Dubya?) yet i do no longer think of banning it would artwork, nor do i think of that is an ethically sound theory: human beings could be unfastened to have self belief what they want. i'm involved to be attentive to how lots you particularly be attentive to approximately Islam to make this variety of sweeping fact approximately it. maximum human beings of Muslims are good, undemanding human beings who deplore terrorism as much as anybody else. Christianity had "Holy Wars" too, contained in this variety of the Crusades - to no longer point out the certainty the Bush believes God needs him to act like a criminally insane chimp (sorry, no offense meant to chimps there). ALL fundamentalists are loopy, regardless of what faith they declare to be a factor of. that is basically that here interior the West, we tend to have the propaganda device working in Christianity's favour.

Your question should be stated as: Will the government outlaw religious practices in the future?
You cannot legislate to force people to believe one thing over the other. We human beings will believe what we want to believe and not what an unfair government wants us to believe.
Communists tried and failed miserably.
You can prohibit them from attending church openly but they will do it clandestinely. So no you cannot outlaw religion.

I think at some point people are going to realize how divisive religion is and how many atrocities have been committed in the name of God and will decide that the world would just be better without it.
