The bible seems to teach that we should all be baptized, yet some say it is not necessary. What do you think?

Here are some scriptures:

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." (John 3:5)

"And he said unto them (His Apostles), Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." (Mark 16:15-16)

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38)

There are others, including the baptism of Jesus himself, but these seem to be sufficient to support the idea that baptism is a commandment.

I have heard the comment that the thief on the cross was promised paradise without baptism, but perhaps "paradise" is not the same as the kingdom of God / heaven.

where in the bible can I find information about the 12 disciples and each of their reactions to the persecution and eventual death of Jesus? I know that Judas betrayed him and then killed himself and that Peter denied he knew him three times, but I don't know much about the other's and their reactions? I am trying to learm more about the bible so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.

...would he allow someone to choose to return to Earth as a ghost instead of spending eternity in Heaven? Or does he rescind free will once you ascend to Heaven to worship him as his slave?

When in truth most of us are more like average men playing basketball with midgets? Come on, can any of us really feel smart by beating somebody who honestly believes the wing is irreducibly complex or that evolution can't be true because if it is, why are there still apes? Sure, there are those who take pride in it, but there are also people who think they are gods because they beat Halo at normal instead of recruit...

I've rarely, if ever, seen anyone else do this.

I also posed this question a few minutes ago, and Yahoo! yanked it before it posted. So please, answer this also...what is so offensive about this question that it would be pulled before posting?

Me thinks that Yahoo! plays favorites.

Qu'ran: in the name of thy Lord who Createth. Createth man from a clot (Surat Al-Alaq 96:1-5).

The Arabic word "alaq" translated into English as "clot" means frozen blood.

Man was created from the dust of the ground, not from frozen blood. Even the Quran states this fact:
Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man from clay. When I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in prostration unto him" (Surat Sad 38:71, 72).

Here the Quran contradicts itself. In one instance it says that many was created from "a clot" which means "frozen blood," while in another, it says that man was created from "clay." The fact is, man was created from the dust of the ground as the Bible states.

As every reader who has studied human reproduction will realize, there is no state as a clot during formation a fetus, so this very major scientific problem.

Would the angel Gabriel make such a scientific error?

What did he do that was so worthy of so much animosity...doesn't matter if you don't believe. It seems more people have empathy for Hitler here than Jesus, which is very disturbing. What did the J man do to you? Really? This is coming from a non-Christian.

Something that really bothers me about the concept of original sin: God made us. Why should we feel bad about the way he created us? (i.e. tendancy for greed, sex, etc)

Please don't answer freewill. God made everything, every concept of the universes. He made our tendancies to do things if we are to use freewill.

So why do people feel guilty? Also, aren't we supposed to be created in God's image? This really doesn't make sense to me.

It seems as if:
1. God creates the Universes
2. God creates us
3. We have tendencies to do certain things, either because of the way He made us, or because of the universe around us.
4. God gives us freewill so we sometimes act on those tendencies instilled in us by God
5. We need to feel bad that we do those things.

Please real answers only. This is a real question.

Politics into the mix. What do you think about this?

Sitting in front of our new Congress, under House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, there is a proposal to designate churches, pastors, religious denominations, public interest organizations, and other non-profit groups as ''lobbyists.''
Currently, lobbyists must register with the government - this new bill expands the definition of ''lobbyist'' to include any church or organization that strives to influence public opinion!
This legislation will drastically affect the operation of churches that speak out on major moral and political issues and Christian organizations using TV, radio, or the Internet to mobilize citizens around an issue.
Plus, many churches, especially larger churches with TV and radio ministries, would be subject to registration as a lobbying organization - and - failure to register under this new law could result in criminal prosecution - fines of up to $100,000, six years in prison - even ten years in some cases.

Why on earth would you have that many children? The older ones miss out on childhood b/c they are practically raising the younger ones.

Is there some kind of rule for Mormons that you should pump out as many babies as humanly possible?
