The world will never be peaceful and is under the judgement of God. At present He is taking out a people for Himself. Those that are His are waiting for new heavens and earth wherein dwelleth righteousness. Then there will be peace.

The basis instinct of man is to survive (water, food, shelter) and to reproduce. This is the same for every animal on Earth. The roots of all inter-species violence can be traced to the need to satisfy these needs.
In times of resource shortages, tensions will rise which can culminate in members of the same species killing each other.
Why are there so many wars now? - There are too many people and not enough resources (the Easter Island model).
Peace will happen when the balance between population and resources/nature has been restored, which in humanity's case is a World reduction in numbers of around 75%.

Convince all people to apply the "golden rule".
Could you immagine, if all Jews, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sihks, Hindus and others, who all have been given the teachings of compassion and forgiveness toward the "others", would live up to that?
There would be peace on earth!!

To have a peaceful world you have to stamp out greed and lust for power so I would say it is impossible. But we can work on it.

Not really possible, unfortunately. People are only animals, after all and will always have greed, jealousy, hate, religion, race, etc etc in them. Sorry.
