Politics into the mix. What do you think about this?

Sitting in front of our new Congress, under House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, there is a proposal to designate churches, pastors, religious denominations, public interest organizations, and other non-profit groups as ''lobbyists.''
Currently, lobbyists must register with the government - this new bill expands the definition of ''lobbyist'' to include any church or organization that strives to influence public opinion!
This legislation will drastically affect the operation of churches that speak out on major moral and political issues and Christian organizations using TV, radio, or the Internet to mobilize citizens around an issue.
Plus, many churches, especially larger churches with TV and radio ministries, would be subject to registration as a lobbying organization - and - failure to register under this new law could result in criminal prosecution - fines of up to $100,000, six years in prison - even ten years in some cases.

I don't see how people didn't know that Nancy Pelosi and her liberal gang would ruin The United States of America. They are the ones who want absolute control and are trying to keep the American people in the dark. This issue does not just apply to religious organizations. It applies to any group that seeks the truth in Washington, DC and passes that information along to the public. It's disgusting!

May God Bless and Help us!!!

There particularly isn't any debate among technological know-how and faith. If God created the universe, then He additionally created the technological know-how which governs it. Science can not disprove God, however it could disprove what a few men and women think approximately Him. In the longer term all technological know-how can do is exhibit us how God did what He did. In so far as evolution, I do think that this occurred, however while you suppose approximately it, it might no longer potentially occur with out steering. Any scientist will let you know that the chances of the entire factors of a unmarried strand of DNA (the constructing block of lifestyles) coming in combination within the primordial soup had been billions upon billion upon billions to 1. You nonetheless could no longer have lifestyles.... you would not also have DNA... simply the factors. Evolution is silent on how lifestyles got here to be. Once lifestyles was once created, how did mobile diversification take location? What induced this unmarried mobile organism to develop a liver? The strict evolutionist could speak approximately random resolution. But randomness can not produce symmetry. It can not produce the stability that's visible over and over and over within the our bodies of all species. How did this occur? Also, any scientist will let you know that chaos can not produce order. Nor can the unreasoning produce rationale. So how might rationale and intelligence potentially evolve? All of this elements to the need of an sensible consultant for the evolutionary procedure. In different phrases, a transparent indication that God would possibly correctly exist.

The lobbying reform provisions would correct the enormous loopholes in current law that allow more than 70% of Washington's lobbyists to lobby Congressional offices without registering. Some of those lobbyists are representing churches.

Listen, the separation thing goes BOTH ways - If the churches want the State to stay out of the religion business, then churches ought to stay out of politics. The fact that they will NOT do so makes something like this neccessary.

I applaud this!!!!

You cannot have it both ways; and you can thank evangelical and conservative Christians like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson (the ones who also said that the Christian god struck America on 9.11). They indeed are lobbyists and their so-called religious organizations are really just Political Action Committees.

Worse, their stated goal is the destruction of the US Constitution and replacing it with a fraudulent version that includes reference to the Christian God (something that is totally and completely excluded from the document that historically and currently created and defines our government.

Besides, where have your protests been while the Bush administration has been systematically destroying the constitutional rights to privacy for all Americans?

It is different when it affects you, isn't it? You really do not care about the rights of Americans, you care only about your rights.

Don't you think that is just a little selfish, hypocritical and, dare i say, un-Christian?

I think I just caught a glimpse of Freedom of Speech fluttering out the window. This makes be think of another country that has encountered this same thing for years and believers have been driven to underground house churches....China. Are we headed in that direction too? I encourage everyone to write to your publicly elected officials and let them hear loud and clear that they will NOT get your vote if they let this bill pass. With God before us who can be against us.

Also--please check out Senate bill 1. This bill would PREVENT us from emailing, telephoning or writing our PUBLICLY ELECTED officials (living quite well I might add on our tax dollars) regarding up and coming bills. The only way we could get info would be by paying a fee. In essence they want us to shut up so they can pass whatever bills & laws float thier boat.

Write to your elected officials. Make your voice heard.

Well...I step off my soap box for now.
Keep praying everyone. Keep seeking God.

Be Blessed.

Well that depends on your view of a religious establishment. I know many people from many religious backgrounds that say it's not the church you belong to but your relationship with your God that matters. Unfortunately most churches have turned from a congregation of worship to a place of business and collecting of money. TBN for instance one of the "christian" broadcast networks is about as christian as the antichrist. Remember, to be christian is to be "Like Christ" Lets take a more specific example out of this TBN. Benny Hinn, so called faith healer...If there ever was a false prophet, wolf in sheeps clothing, imposter or whatever else you want to call this guy, he is it. Using the religious institution as a means to dupe people out of their money and using their faith to deceive them...yeah, it's partially their fault because they probably either want to be deceived or are so desperate to believe that at this point they'll believe just about anything. Now, the point I am getting at is I attend a small church where everyone knows everyone on a first name basis. If something is wrong in my life, I can get up in front of the church and share it with the other members, not being scared to do so and like true christians and as the bible says, they come to my aid whether they like me or not because as christians it is their duty to be like christ because we are all part of the same body, make sense? Well our pastor was once a wonderfull man, he even had a radio program where he preached daily and never had to worry about the cost because listeners paid the whole bill. Well, he started getting recognition from people in TBN and started meeting with these big wig so called christians on a regular basis (one of them being Benny Hinn)...well when that happened his sermons started changing. He started becoming more and more secretive. He would lie to his congregation saying he was out of town while his neighbor would tell us he was not out of town, he was at home while he had some complete stranger (woman) up in front of church preaching about how the pastor needs to be making twice as much money as anyone in the congregation and the church should be providing this and that no one should question the decisions the pastor makes nor question anything the pastor says. Show me anywhere in the bible that the claims this woman made is true. Not to be sexest but the bible clearly states that no woman should speaking in an authoratative manner in fron of the congregation. Hey, I didn't make the rules, I follow them because I believe them and this instance has cemented that in my mind as to why that rule was created. So the almost complete 180 change in our pastor to a more secular mentality and using this woman to deliver his message while the pastor and his wife lie to congregation about their whereabouts so they don't have to dleiver the message themselves is most likely the direct result of the poisonous nature of these large *big money* religions. Maybe by forcing them to be classified as Lobbiests it will teach the true believers to stay the heck away from these churches that obviously use secular means to take people away from the truth and in turn take the money away from their people.

Sounds like a good plan to me. You can't get much more "special interest" than a church...

I would have no problem with the political action committees of my religion (there are a couple) having to register.
