A person asked two question on this sight: "What would it take for a christian to lose their beliefs" and "What would it take for an atheist to believe in a God". Now given those weren't the exact wordings (sorry GrimJack), but that's not the point. When reading the articles of the latter, i found that all atheists would be willing to change their beleif if they witnessed a miracle. But in the former, no christian said they would change their beleif. Is this the definition of blind faith or what?

Didnt Darwin come to humanity and offer it a red pill?

If you think about it, many people, on a subconscious level said "Hmmm, no, I will take the blue pill, I am afraid of the truth, and after all, the steak tastes juicy all the same, whether its real or not".

TAKE THE RED PILL. HERE IT IS MY FRIEND http://www.becominghuman.org/

Would it be a sin for a woman to fornicate with others aside from her soulmate? Most would like to have both but for the sake of arguments on population, seems like they could not and gays and lesbian prosper on it. so, what is marriage in the eyes of God?
And last but not the least, what matter to you most, married to the one you have bows with or to the one you lost your virginity with?

Have you ever REALLY tried to study other philsophical view points, like Kant or Nietzsche? Have you ever read Marcus Aurelius on Stocism or given any other substantial non-religious explainations a shot?

I used to say all the time, stuff like "Yes, I have investigated other views, and always come back to my religion. Didnt you read that book by Neil Clark about his turning away fron atheism!"

If you havent "really" done the homework, that means you really havent tried to challenge whether your religious beliefs are true, but instead wish to stay inside the cocoon or matrix of religion.

Most people reject paganism today(although its made a comeback), but all of our ancestors were originally pagan. In other words, the earliest religions were created to try an explain things that troubled humans who had just become "self aware".

Most importantly, they wanted a way to cope with mortality. Are you living in a dreamworld Neo, contructed to assuage human fear and uncertainty?

as long as we are talking about theories,so
if you think human is the most superior living kind, here is a silly suggestion.
why human didn't develop wings to fly as long as he needs to fly as mentioned in old myths that he was always dreaming to fly with failed trials, and why some kind of animals have wings while the most superior one doesn't

I would go more often, if they had a keg or at least a bottle of Jack next to the collection plate up front. Each glass you have, you make a donation. Both you and Jesus win.. so where is the harm?

People think that being Pagan or Wiccan is the same as believing in Satan.. when we're far from it. Please explain without using hate words towards any religion.

For me: If it could be reproducibly demonstrated that prayer could change to outcome of events I’d seriously consider belief.

"Don't judge a man until you have walked a mile in his moccasins."

It's not people's faults you disrespect. You disrespect their devotion to something you believe is meaningless. But imagine there is an innocent little girl who has a flower in a pot. Everyday she tends to the plant, gives it waters, makes sure the pot is clean... Now the flower is not a particularly rare or beautiful flower, but the girl has devoted herself to it. Sure to you the flower is meaningless, "a waste of time" but to the girl there is meaning as there is meaning to wherever we give it. Why question the girl for tending to her flower in a pot? Why even insult her? If your fight is with politics I suggest you put on a suit and campaign for the congressmen of your choice ~ not throw around useless insults that have no bearing on society.

I just had someone email me unsolicited through Y!A to "inform" me that the Gospel of Mark was written no less than 8 years after Jesus' death.

Now, any reputable Bible scholar will inform you that Mark was the earliest Gospel to be written and that it was written between 60-80 A.D. I, personally, learned this over four years of Bible college, but it is easily verified online. I explained this to my unsolicited emailer, with a snarky note that it is best to check facts BEFORE spamming people.

Often here on Y!A, spelling is atrocious, people refuse to even look up basic evolutionary concepts, others argue with each other about what the Bible "says" without even attempting to check the source.

My question is this: We live in a world where information can be gotten affordably and instantly. Logically, with info so easy to come by we should truly all be Renaissance Men and Women. Why does our society sometimes seem to be one of the most woefully uninformed ones in history?
