Have you ever REALLY tried to study other philsophical view points, like Kant or Nietzsche? Have you ever read Marcus Aurelius on Stocism or given any other substantial non-religious explainations a shot?

I used to say all the time, stuff like "Yes, I have investigated other views, and always come back to my religion. Didnt you read that book by Neil Clark about his turning away fron atheism!"

If you havent "really" done the homework, that means you really havent tried to challenge whether your religious beliefs are true, but instead wish to stay inside the cocoon or matrix of religion.

Most people reject paganism today(although its made a comeback), but all of our ancestors were originally pagan. In other words, the earliest religions were created to try an explain things that troubled humans who had just become "self aware".

Most importantly, they wanted a way to cope with mortality. Are you living in a dreamworld Neo, contructed to assuage human fear and uncertainty?

Do Luden's cough drops count? They're red.

I can't say that I have studied too much of the atheistic philosophies. You're probably right about wanting to stay in my cocoon- it's all warm and cuddly.

As much as I like my dreamworld, you're also right about needing to listen to their point of views.

Yes I have REALLY tried to study other philosophical view points and none of them are the truth. Error isn't the opposite of the truth it's anything less than the whole truth.

Did you really believe what your religion taught? You don't say what your religious connection was so I don't know if you believed that Jesus is the son of God, that he was born of a virgin, that he was crucified on a cruel cross to pay the penalty for our sin, that he arose and that he is coming back to judge the living and the dead. Is this what you believed? It's still as true as it was the moment you first believed if it is in fact what you believed before you tested your beliefs.

If you have studied philosophy as you say you have then you should have noticed the consistent use of dualistic jargon. Aren't you just a little curious about it's purpose?

I have. Good question that seems to be a bit confusing in your explanation. I study all you brought up, and also native American traditions and religions first hand, not just through books....I have traveled most of the world also....Keep questioning...it leads to growth....
