Didnt Darwin come to humanity and offer it a red pill?
If you think about it, many people, on a subconscious level said "Hmmm, no, I will take the blue pill, I am afraid of the truth, and after all, the steak tastes juicy all the same, whether its real or not".
TAKE THE RED PILL. HERE IT IS MY FRIEND http://www.becominghuman.org/

You really think the Xtians are going to give up their Bible and take the "Red pill"? Sorry, my friend, but looks like we won't have too many people jumping off of buildings tonight. The Bible is like Linus' blanket in Peanuts... you remove it and he goes nuts.

Can I just say I don't need the blue pill? My haa haa is working just fine, thank-you-very-much. XD
Seriously, though...
Darwin didn't really offer a "red pill of truth", but opened a door to a new way of thinking. He introduced a new concept and changed our philosophies. If he gave us a red pill, then why haven't we waken up naked in a bunch of red goo?
Wait... That was birth... Never mind.

Many scientists have shot darwins theory that a single celled organism could create all life on earth.
They have proven through gene manipulation that it is impossible that once an organism has become a spieces it can vary in type of that spieces IE: the many variety of birds, but it cannot become a whole new spieces IE: a bird becomming a cat, etc.

It is amazing how many people claim that their beliefs obligate them to the truth, yet they nuture a lie to perpetuate their beliefs.
Yes, many people prefer the comforts of the matrix as opposed to the truth.
P.S.
People who do not understand the theory of evolution should not comment on Darwin and his theory of evolution. No scientist has ever stated that a cat came from a bird. No credible one at least and certainly not Darwin.

Did you see the matrix or not. Most people don't know about the pill so can't make the choice.

Darwin was plausible.
But look beneath the plausible veneer and there is no substance there.
There is no being behind the appearance.
