"Don't judge a man until you have walked a mile in his moccasins."

It's not people's faults you disrespect. You disrespect their devotion to something you believe is meaningless. But imagine there is an innocent little girl who has a flower in a pot. Everyday she tends to the plant, gives it waters, makes sure the pot is clean... Now the flower is not a particularly rare or beautiful flower, but the girl has devoted herself to it. Sure to you the flower is meaningless, "a waste of time" but to the girl there is meaning as there is meaning to wherever we give it. Why question the girl for tending to her flower in a pot? Why even insult her? If your fight is with politics I suggest you put on a suit and campaign for the congressmen of your choice ~ not throw around useless insults that have no bearing on society.

First off, you are the one insulting. Second, what happens when the flower doesn't grow? What happens when you put all of your time and devotion into something that wont happen? Maybe you have had a miracle that makes you believe in a higher power. Good for you. But have you ever had an innocent friend raped with a knife? A best friend raped by her uncle? A grandparent eaten alive by cancer? A world killing itself right in front of your own eyes? What is that puny old flower going to do about that? I feel sorry for you. You are so afraid of reality that you have to hide behind something. You are so uneducated and ignorant. Hopefully one day you will see the truth and be strong enough to face it.

If someone asks a question, then I will answer it based on what I believe. That's the joy of freedom of speech. If someone insults my beliefs and calls the "the stupidest thing" then I will chime in with my opinion, as I'd expect anyone else would do. And as for the flowerpot analogy, I don't see where that is relevant. I'd never call someone's flower "meaningless" but what you are doing is akin to the girl standing up, going over to someone else's flower pot and calling it "stupid".

Well... if I was a Christian I'd consider this the most god-awful, patronizing insult to my intelligence anyone had ever uttered. You are more or less saying, don't spoil their little fantasy, it's sweet watching them doing something nice. You do realize that some Christians actually THINK about their faith, do you? Some of them are really intelligent. You want us to regard them all as orphans with learning difficulties.

But D Chino schooled you totally.

Why? You guys insult me all the time.

As for the girl and the flower...the flower is a real and tangible thing, gods aren't. You can't prove or disprove their existence. People make fun of you because of the crazy stuff you post Sifting, not necessarily because of your religion.

Once the child came over to my house and said my flowers were ugly and needed to be replaced, I would tell her to f*ck off.

Do you get it, clown? I don't give a damn what flowers you plant, I only care when you come over and insult my garden.

Flower in pot vs deity
Realistic vs "because a book says so/god talks to me in my head"
Normal vs nuts
