When a child is born, he/she has no religion, right? Then he/she is baptized, or whatever, and at that point I guess you could say that the child has entered into whatever faith the parents decided. The parents raise the child according to their faith. Now, if the child grows up to be an adult who rejects religion, is that adult not reverting back to the same condition as when he/she was born, and is this not closer to a symbolic "rebirth" than being "saved" by Jesus? The former returns you to your original state, the latter does not, so how, if you "accept Jesus", are you "born again"?

Have you ever been somewhere in the world that has a dictator or no democracy Then you will see death!!!! In the streets daily and chaos and more death and viloence. You are speaking out of ignorance from your safe little dorm room or house in cozy America or some other free democracy and have never experienced what you speak of. It makes me sick. Some think they are experts and have no life experience... other than pampered little boring lives, that sit and debate what they know nothing about. If you have been or are in the military and have seen these things, this is not a question for you. Christ does not promote violence Mohamad does. Islam and the Quran does. Look at how they live. They kill because Allah and Mohamad tell them to. IT IS NOT democracy doing the killing pal. IF YOU WANT TO PUT DOWN RELIGION AIM IT AT ISLAM BECAUSE THEY ARE OUT TO KILL YOU AND YOU DONT EVEN KNOW IT.
DOES ANYONE AGREE???

I'n my personal opinion I believe it will occur probably in the next 100 to 300 years.
(I just don't see it happening in my lifetime or even my childrens lifetimes.)
That's just by own opinion though:

seem unable to accept both sides of God (I am sure there are more than 2 but) some of us appear to see God as love and these say do not judge lest you be judged, and then there are those who see the side of God who judges and it is don't do this and don't do that (legalistic) and remember there is hell.

and yet God is evidently both but individuals have a hard time with putting the two together.

Isn't our God big enough to use a carrot and a stick??

Is it so hard to see that both can be used by one.

Is it impossible for your picture of God be that He either is smiling or He carries a big stick, can't He do both.

I just want to know if you lean far towards one of these poles what is it gets in your way to seeing the other side?? perhaps your parents, view of life, history, ??

I'll leave this up for a while as I know this might take some time to think over and for those who like thinking to find it

Considering all the wars that have been started in God and Allah's name, how many people have been killed because of someone else's feverent belief in a religion or doctrine.

Let's not forget that many people who call themselves Christians hide behind the supposed good purpose - only to live immoral lives by doing drugs, having gay sex, and screwing around on their wives.

So if religion is the answer to morality, how is it that is seems to only make matters worse?

I went to a chat site by the name of inluvwithjesus or something and I would ask insightful questions about Jesus and God(Deep ones).

I ALWAYS get the response of "If you are in love with Jesus you should know that by now"

Are they wrong?

This was three years ago.

Sometimes I think that things are so jumbled and hard becasue we do not listen or something we did in the past or maybe it is just GOD trying to build my strength. I 'm a single mother of two kids I take care of my elderly mother with Epilsey. I bought a house 2 years ago in Georgia I love my home but got a shotty deal when it was purchased . I had to purchase a new heating and air system that was leaking carbon dioxide . At the time had just had a new baby and emptied my 401k and savings account making repairs on the roof that still leaks . I have tried to keep up with the payments and the bills becasue it has an adjustable rate . I am now in forclosure and am facing going out in the streets have contacted NACA for a refi and a Dwayne Hartman in the atlanta office is not returning my calls after I cried and begged for help . Iam at my witts end and told my kids we have to move yet again and my son is 11 years old son who looks at me like I have failed them . God help me

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

A Webster definition of religion: The service and worship of God or the supernatural. (There are other definitions)

A Webster definition of Christianity: The religion derived from Jesus Christ, based on the bible as sacred scripture.

This amendment was ratified in the 1790,s, but I don't know the amount of time or thought that was put into it. I have to assume that that they meant the religion of Christianity, but that isn't what they said in the Constitution. Just using the word "religion" in the Constitution means that any group that claims to be a religion has the same rights as and must be treated the same as the Christian religion. Now, how do you set up a religiously run government with this type of law governing it? You can't!!!
There are many Muslims in a lot of countries and they are broken down into tribe's with-in the countries. They fight and kill each other and anyone else like dogs that doesn't believe like them, and there are 15 million of them already in this country. In our Christian religion we don't call them tribes, but denominations. We don't physically fight each other, but we sure like to bicker. Now, how would you like to set up a government that could handle this type of mess. We would be a whole lot like some of the countries we consider nut cases and dangerous. I would love to see our country continue to have our laws established by men and women that are of the Christian religion. I would love for it to be the only religion in the USA with none others allowed in our country, but that is not and will not be possible I'm afraid. We have to and need to have separation of Church and State under the Constitution we live under, But we don't have to have separation of God from hearts of the men and women who we elect to run this country. We must continue to do our best to put people in office that belong to the Christian Religion. I don't believe I want any other so called religion to have more power with-in our government then what little we Christians have now.

Most Christians are taught there is only one God but it says in genisis "Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness OUR being the key would. Also the statement God is the highest of High Gods. This is a clear contradition in the Bible which is correct. How do preachers/pastors explain this?

My question refers not to the questions that science is still grappling with, but instead, the questions that supposedly fall outside the purview of science.

What questions do you ask that science can NEVER address?

but why is there only an outcry of condemnation in American society against religious entertainment that contains violence while secular violence is glorified and approved of in every kind of entertainment?

This question occurred to me when reading the Yahoo news article about how people want to ban the video game called Left Behind because it supposedly promotes religious violence.

Another example was how people complained that "The Passion of the Christ" was "too violent". But no one said that "American Psycho" was too violent. "American Psycho" did not have any kind of good moral message in it. It was only about graphic mindless serial killing, but it had a PG rating. And there was never any public outcry against that movie.

How many secular video games and movies promote secular violence that we don't hear about on the news? I'm just curious as to why violence in religious movies and video games gets controversy but secular violence is no big deal to people.
