I noticed a lot of responses to my question seeking the advice of fellow Catholics, I also couldn't help but notice a lot of you were male. Any single Catholic males out there? Maybe that is what I need in my life.
If I meet a Catholic guy, I will have to remain celbate until marriage. That will be hard. So will he. All the time. Sorry, Lord.

As a violent rape victim can I ever expect to be normal ? I have been so stuck in a whirlwind...I feel like the water draining out of a tub. You know when its down to the last gallon and the water is in a whirlpool at the drain ? None of my counselors work...my meds suck...I wonder if its me that needs to be able to be mature enough to make it all sensible to my counselors and then maybe Ill be OK. I went thru the slashing thing and that hasnt worked. I got a couple of tattoos and I liked the pain and the way I look goth with the tats. I feel like a lip and nose ring are next but secretly its for the pain and not the look . Every once in a while I get this crazy sex thing on me and get like an animal on the prowl...then it blows away like a mist. To be honest at times I feel safer being a little whacked in my head and behavior. mY history with men sucks. My dad was a screamer and hit me for years. I became a grade B model and did alot of racy pics..... WTF ? Any insight anybody ?

interested in taking their poll because I do not have a T.V. Should I have asked to speak to the man's supervisor when he blurted out, "What? You don't have a T.V.? What are you, a Mennonite or something?"

I have been studying Buddhism for awhile, and am pretty familiar with the three main sects, but I have since learned there are more sects of Buddhism, or perhaps these are sub-sects. If you can point me to a page where there is some good explanations, or explain what you know about any Buddhist sect, I would appreciate it.

For casual reading I use the NIV, but for any studying I use the Greek New Testament. I used the NIV before I learned Greek, but now whenever I translate I try to "forget" everything the English Bible says so I can at least try to literally translate it without knowing before-hand what the outcome will be. For instance I love the letter to the Galatians, so I did not read it for several weeks before I translated it, the first five verses came out great, then I butchered the sixth or seventh verse and needed a full day to get one verse to make sense (Paul is like PhD level Greek) . I've found that the NIV does translate really well, except for some minor word differences that I personally wouldn't have chosen but the meaning is still the same.

How about you? Non-Christians this thread isn't for you but if you want your two points, I understand. We all love our points.

I don't see anything wrong with wanting to be with God where there is love and a glorious Heaven with family, friends and my whiskered angels. I'm not suicidal but pray each day that I'm allowed to go home to God. The physical world seems superficial, pointless and I no longer have any goals or needs.

I have been living a rather unholy lifestyle the past 9 years and I would like to repent. The last time I went to Reconciliation was when I was probably 15 or 16 and I was rather innocent back then. My question is have you commited some sins and living a not-so-good lifestyle and decided to repent and it helped you do better? It's been so long and I'm wondering if it would help. I'm high and drunk right now.

Quran Sura XLII 13 To you hath He prescribed the faith which He commanded unto Noah, and which we have revealed to thee, and which we commanded unto Abraham and Moses and Jesus, saying, "Observe this faith, and be not divided into sects therein." Intolerable to those who worship idols jointly with God

Is that faith to which thou dost call them. Whom He pleaseth will God choose for it, and whosoever shall turn to Him in penitence will He guide to it.

Nor were they divided into sects through mutual jealousy, till after that "the knowledge" had come to them: and had not a decree from thy Lord gone forth respiting them to a fixed time, verily, there had at once been a decision between them.[706] And they who have inherited "the Book" after them, are in perplexity of doubt concerning it.
