Repentance is a gift and a choice. You WILL feel better... I have soo been there little sister. I used to party and I was always so unhappy. I one night just asked the Lord to help me, that I didnt really wanna do that any more that i wanted to be happy and live right. He helped me find my way and I am now living that life.
Repentance is just between you and the Lord. If your heart truly desires to live right and have Him be the center of your life, then you will find it. Repentance is truly a gift for those who feel it in their hearts enough to make the change.
I have soo been there........your words have taken me back to my own time when I had to come to realize that life is nothing without the Lord. The world shows us all these things that are suppose to make you happy, but they are temporary and they are lies. Sin was never happiness.....
Have faith that he knows and hears your prayers......I KNOW from experience. Get right with Him.
My best wishes to you-

I am a catholic and i feel that reconciliation is a very helpful sacrament. It always helps to know that you can tell the priest as well as god, even the most vile and nasty things imaginable and still be as loved as the day you were born. Its hard though to get the courage up to do it but once you do i am sure you will fell the difference and will want to try and change. The thing is though that you may not change right away. You will need to find out why your sinning and eliminate what ever it is from you life. Then move on.

Human beings are creatures of habit. Since your hi and drunk you might have misread my statement to read, "Human beings canbreed like rabbits." Seriously, I can understand your dilemma.
The part about repenting is not giving up trying after you fall again and again. It also requires that you stop thinking the way you have for the past 9 years and "avoiding the near occasion of sin". The nice thing about going to reconcilliation is that the priest will guide you to become a better person. He will council you and give you a blessing. Changing habits means changing the way you think. This is not a short term cure but an eternal one. So, keep trying.
God bless you in this endeavor.

Jesus said that all manner of sin and blasphemy would be forgiven (except blasphemy against the Holy Ghost) You can go before the Lord right now in prayer, in private and just tell him about it and then claim the forgiveness that is waiting for you right now. Its not what you did in the past that matters but rather how you spend the rest of your life that counts. We have all done things in our lives that we are not proud of so you are not alone in the matter! I wish you well in the future too!

It is always good to repent and try to do better.
You might start by praying everyday for healing, strength and wisdom, going to church on Sunday, and receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation.
This is one way how to go to Confession
+ Get yourself ready by making your examination of conscience.
+ After the priest greets you with the Sign of the Cross make the Sign of the Cross and say: “Bless me Father for I have sinned. It has been (say how long) since my last confession. These are my sins…”
+ Tell your sins simply and honestly to the priest. Don’t be embarrassed.
+ When you are done listing your sins please say: “…I am sorry for these sins and all the sins I can’t remember.”
+ Listen to the advice the priest gives you and accept the penance from him. Then make an Act of Contrition for your sins:
My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
And failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Amen.
+ The priest will then conclude with the words: “Your sins are truly forgiven, Go in Peace”. You respond: “Thanks be to God.”
+ Perform your penance as soon as possible.
With love and prayers in Christ.

Consider the fact that what God asks for is to hear your repentant heart directly. 1 John 1:9 says "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Everyone has committed sins, and everyone needs to repent of them.
Yes, you can do better by grace through faith. By God's strength you can say no to what you need to say no to and yes to what you need to say yes to.
Don't give up on yourself. Go get some sleep and take care of yourself.
The God of the Bible is faithful to all of His promises - and never slumbers nor sleeps...

Of course you should repent; but even if you lived the rest of your life without ever committing one sin, you would still be accountable for all the sins you've ALREADY committed.
