Can it work out in any way?

And what to make of the obsession with the foreskin and circumcision found within the pages of "God's Word?" In the Old Testament, in order to please his future father-in-law, David enthusiastically abides by the man's request that David slay 100 hundred Philistines and bring the father-in-law their foreskins in exchange for the hand of his daughter! (1 Samuel 27) Indeed, the eager David brings Saul 200 foreskins! In the New Testament, circumcision is dwelt upon repeatedly by Paul and others--so critical is it to the lascivious Lord, who obviously screwed up in the first place by putting foreskins on men.

I can't accept oversimplified, fairy tale answers from the religious community, but I must confess that I can't immagine a death without end.
I'm sure that I can muster the courage to face death; --but death for umpteen trillion years plus,--just scares the hell out of me.
Has any atheist worked out any comforting thoughts about this?
I would like to hear your views.
Bible thumpers need not repply.

I went to Waldenbooks today, and all I found were bibles and a book about Judeasim. Where can I buy a Quran, and how much do they cost?

Is it true that Jewish men do not give "promise rings" to their girlfriends? I happen to be Jewish and really have not heard of that "rule".

that because of Adam and Eve, we are all sinned from birth even though we haven't done anything wrong ourselves?
That's a load of bull. It's just a way to get people to Baptise their babies. I think children should be old enough to decide if they want to be Baptised.

Sorry for the re-post, but I realized that this would be easier and more accurate for people to answer if I explained myself...

I love a guy, and my sister hates him. We were together, but not anymore because my family seems to disagree with that. But my sister and her husband of all of them seem to hate him the most. I've noticed that they would rather me hate this guy than love him. We're Reformed Christians, so that kind of made me think...hence the question: Is it worse to love something bad or hate something good?
Since they don't seem to think he's good.
Although that might be a matter of opinion..

i am a maried man and have 3 children, i pray, go to church but everytime in my life when i am ready to reach the end of the tunnel, everything has to go back like before. if i have a job after 3 years i have to loose it (laid off or asked to resign) and always happen when my wife is pregnant. 3 children 3 losing jobs. We have to struggle again but always keep faith in God, next job is always better than the previous one. Today i am on my lay off # 4 after 3 years again. Why? Does God is trying to show me something that i still don't understand? What i need to do? Is there any interpretation to this? Please help me and my family. Is there a special prayer for me?

I lost faith in Christianity 8 years ago and am now an atheist, but sometimes my dad wants me to go to church with him.

There are certain things I'm not comfortable doing, because it feels like lying. For example, I think it's wrong to recite the Nicine Creed if I don't believe it, and I think taking communion means I'm making some kind of promise or pledge that I don't want to make.

Last service, they said that the BAPTISED may to take communion, while the UNBAPTISED may come and accept a blessing instead. Does that mean it's fine for an atheist to come up and accept a blessing during communion?

What does it mean when you take communion or a blessing?

What does it mean when you recite the Nicine Creed or the Lord's Prayer?

What does it mean when you say "Amen" in response to something?

What prayers in a normal Church service shouldn't a person say if they don't really mean it? For example, I really think it's a bad lie if I recite the Nicine Creed, but fine to sing most hymns.

I have said the prayer asking Jesus into my heart and to take over my life but, I have never felt any different. I mean, I don't feel Him changing me in any way. When I pray I feel like I'm talking to the air around me. I read the bible often and I'm not any closer to Him or God. I try to be a good christian but that doesnt work either. I get more depressed. It's like They don't want me, so I give up. I even started searching other means to spirituality(gnosis christian) for some guideance and I'm not sure about that either. I do believe in a higher power and that I didn't come from apes. If someone could help out I would be appreciated.

the greek myths work just as good as the bloodly abrahamic big three. abrahamic religions insist on one god. other don't native americans have a better philosophy. so do the buddhist. i love the greek mythology it is fun and offers a workable system to guide a society. the abrahamic ways are horrible.

When it comes to religious groups, have you honestly had a certain group of people or known someone from a group that gave you a bad tastes in your mouth? And this question doesn't just apply to pagans who have had bad experiences with Christians, but Christians who have honestly had bad experiences with pagans, or any other combination with tons of religions.

Personally I am a Christopagan, and I've had bad experiences with evangelical Christians (they are like the only group of Christians I can say I hate or can't stand), I've recently had a really bad experience with Chaos Mages and Discordians. Even online, they gave me really bad vibes. One in particular because he's out to hurt someone dear to me and possibly me. (The details are a bit surreal, so I won't get into them) But I prayed about it and I don't think he'll strike, but still such a bad tastes in my mouth.

P.S. Please no one come in here telling me to be aware of the dark magicians, I've had enough experience.
