I just had a huge debate with a friend over whether Islam is a religion of peace or war. I chose peace but my friend mentioned jihad and I didn't have anything to say to refute that. Please explain. Thanks.

Do they see Christians as weak minded and unintelligent? I know that it is wrong to hate anyone. I don't hate atheists and neither does God. I believe God loves everyone, but its up to the person whether or not they accept Christ and find salvation. I do not mind if atheists disagree with me. I just wish that they could respect me more as an individual. I think that religion and atheism has become way too political! And to say that if you vote for a certain party you are doing right in the eyes of God, is not exactly true! Especially sense governments at one time or another have persecuted Christians. Its happened before, it will happen again! When the government begins taking away our right to worship you will know exactly what I mean! Some blame all religion when there are only certain extremists who are the source of the problem. Why is it that everyone gets the blame? A Christian who bombs an abortion clinic is no different than Osama Bin Laden. I understand that! Don't blame all!

I want to attached my question with my opinion. It was feel good message for ignorant people who justified this act as revenge to the West or Jews but Muslims with knowledge condemned the act of Sept 11,many Scholars of Islam called this act as evil and should be separated from Islam as a religion of Peace. Law enforcements blamed and arrested Muslims suspects of M Eastern origin, some until today they have not received fair trial and probably there is no concrete eveidence apart from circumstantial.US and allies waged war on Terror and thousand of innocent people were killed. However with my long time research and analysation based on available information, recently I went back to the history of Islam and political sit in Arab World. Is anyone though this act could have been organised by any Arab state?Who knows may be Saudi Kingdom or Egypt Government organized Sep 11 attack so the West can deal hashly to Muslims for were seems to be problem and fear to Arabs regime.

How do you explain that some people just can't have faith even when trying their hardest (and coming from a religious environment)? They just can't believe something as fantastic as what's described in the Bible(or other holy book) while others have no problem eating up every word of it because they have "faith".
Some scientist did some research and found that there is something in the brain of the most religious that's different than the ones that are not.
Do you think that could be true?

I have been harrased quite a lot by those disgusting things, in dreams and visions. I am here to tell you if it wasn't for Jesus stepping in I would not even be here right now. After I came face to face with a demon in November last year (2005) not long after, only a few days, I started to heamerage to death, and if I had not have gotten to hospital when I did I would have been gone. doctors did x-rays and all, and found nothing wrong. It was the enemy who did that to me. This year he also appeard to me in a dream instead of a vision like last time. I was at my mothers house(in the dream) with my sister, and the ememy was sitting on a kitchen chair, and I felf the same evil pressence that I though he was going to kill me.I went over to my mum and asked her, is this the enemy. She looked at him and he started walking over to our direction and the closer he get the stronger the evil pressence was. I said to him in the name of Jesus, Jesus, Jesus etc, then I saw him disapear.

i've heard many variations of the bible and stuff, although im not very religous myself, i was wondering (heard rumor) that the original bible in greek i've heard, that there was a word mistranslated into our known english version known as the cross, assuming that jesus did not die on a cross but on a straight pole. is this true? thank you

It originated from Paganism. Christmas spreads greed and hate. Christmas is never mentioned in the bible. Why do we celebrate a satanic holiday in a Christian nation?

As we all know a man believes in God as they are brainwashed when young.A child has lower intelligence and reasoning power than an adult. So it is more difficult for a child to become an atheist than an adult. Many adults still believe in God.
I became an atheist at 8 without anyone in-sigthing me.I did not know what atheism what or there were atheists other than me.My family is orthodox.
Atheists at what age did you became one?Did anyone in-sight you?

Humans observe their surroundings and make conclusions about physical laws.

As such, without the laws of physics we cannot make distinct generalizations and would have to constantly renew our data because of the non stability of things.

Does the existence of a stable framework, that governs all living things, i.e. a set of laws for existence, prove the existence of an awareness that has created the laws in the first place?

In Genesis, it says something like "In the beginning...the earth was without form, and void..."

How was it "the earth", then? Or was it just a void? Where did the earth and the void come from?

I have my theories, but am more interested in hearing yours.

Thanks, and goodnight :-)

He has built hospitals. He helps the poor. The general masses the world over throng to his feet at Puttapurathi, Bangalore, India.

These people do not start the day without praying to him. He is living human being.

Stories abound - controversial may be - nevertheless it exists. Molestation of children are posted on the internet. PBS has broadcasted his 'gimmickry' in slo-mo to prove he does not bring gold watches from thin air to donate to his devotees. It is hidden in his sleeves. PBS goes on to ask should he have to do this? Is this cult?

Qns:
1. Does he have to prove that he is a miracle worker for others to follow him and his teachings?
2. Can a living, mortal human being be considered equivalent to the Supreme, God? Is it proper to raise him to that high level - or - do people bring God to this low level?

In honor of James Brown I pose this important question. :)

The concept of the soul is a very western religious concept, yet there seems to be little effort to explain exactly what the soul is. Can anyone explain what the soul is? What are its properties? What does it do? What is it used for? Where does it come from? Where is its location?

Over 150 million people killed, in less than a century, by this officially atheist political and social system.

That's more than everyone and everything else in history, combined.

Coincidence?

Why get into a big arguement over religion? You're never gonna see me or anybody else.Do what I do , worship the way you worship and believe in what you want to.You're never gonna change my mind and I'm never gonna change yours.Worship with the people you love, love thy neighbor and your church or the freedon not to worship. But whatever you do stop fighting about it.Who cares?

Do you think atheists ignore the fact that religion is extremely beneficial to society?

Those who emphasize the good effects of religion never seem to realize that such effects fail to demonstrate the truth of any religious doctrine. This is why we have terms such as "wishful thinking" and "self-deception." There is a profound distinction between a consoling delusion and the truth.

In any case, the good effects of religion can surely be disputed. In most cases, it seems that religion gives people bad reasons to behave well, when good reasons are actually available. Ask yourself, which is more moral, helping the poor out of concern for their suffering, or doing so because you think the creator of the universe wants you to do it, will reward you for doing it or will punish you for not doing it
