Ok i don't want to know about card tricks. I want to know how you define magic, or magick as the case maybe, as it pertains to divination, sorcery, witchcraft, etc...

Here's the theory as I perceive it, as a solitary eclectic Wiccan. Everything in the universe is energy. Thoughts are also energy. So there are *some* things--by no means all--that we can change by our thoughts. It's been pretty well documented, for example, that certain thoughts can aid or hinder a person's health, or a person's performance. Someone who *believes* she will be successful is more likely to be successful than someone who believes she will not. In a way, it *is* in someone's mind, but with external, real-life results.

Okay. In performing magic, we are on one level "harnessing the energies of the universe," because what else in the universe is there? But on another level, we are convincing ourselves--both consciously and subconsciously--that the outcome we focus upon will come to pass. Kind of like the power of positive thinking, but linked into far deeper subconscious (or universal) triggers like colors, scents, earth objects, and ancient tradition. As for whether magic can then affect someone with whom we have no real contact? Then you start getting into the question of whether our thoughts are on some level accessible by other people.

Now this is just me--people who don't believe in magic don't have to, and those who do may not agree with my own take. But since you asked... for what it's worth :-)

Magic is just the belief of things that cannot be explained naturally, it's unexplainable and terrific, though many people think it's dark and evil, it's not. That rationality is just caused by ignorance and popular belief.

There is a difference between magic tricks for fun and magic as in to conjure up spirits or demons. Magic tricks for fun is a learned slide of hands and is for entertainment and fun tit takes pratice and learning. Black magic is power from Satan and you should stay away from that.

To me majic is created in the mind. The power to create an illusion with mind control. I'll probably get violated for this but Chris ----- you know who I mean is a perfect example. I believe this power is given by Satan.
