Do they see Christians as weak minded and unintelligent? I know that it is wrong to hate anyone. I don't hate atheists and neither does God. I believe God loves everyone, but its up to the person whether or not they accept Christ and find salvation. I do not mind if atheists disagree with me. I just wish that they could respect me more as an individual. I think that religion and atheism has become way too political! And to say that if you vote for a certain party you are doing right in the eyes of God, is not exactly true! Especially sense governments at one time or another have persecuted Christians. Its happened before, it will happen again! When the government begins taking away our right to worship you will know exactly what I mean! Some blame all religion when there are only certain extremists who are the source of the problem. Why is it that everyone gets the blame? A Christian who bombs an abortion clinic is no different than Osama Bin Laden. I understand that! Don't blame all!

A lot of Atheists do hate christians and it's mainly because christianity has gone political and the problem is that politics affect EVERYBODY not just a particular group. SO it's predictible that a non-christian is gonna get mad when a group of christians want to ban gay marriage or abortion because the lord jesus christ apparently was against those issues. Do you see Atheist hating Native Americans and their beliefs? No, you know why? because Native Americans don't want mandatory peace pipe smoking in highschools while christians want mandatory praying and the teaching of creationism. That's why christians make Atheists mad, because they want EVERYBODY TO BE CHRISTIAN and NOT EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE CHRISTIAN. How would you feel if you were forced to pray to allah in your highschool, you would get mad, right? Well,non-christians feel the same way when they are forced to follow a christian ritual. BTW, trying to kick religion (not only christianity) out from places where it shouldn't be teach or present such as highschools, court rooms or the goverment is not presecusion of chrsitianity, is respect of the church and state separation. And as a personal note, I have a problem with you when you say "its up to the person whether or not they accept Christ and find salvation", salvation from what? What was our sin? being born? So just because you are alive you are a sinner? Man, chrsitianity makes less sense to made every day.

What I hate is not the majority of the religious. I don't even hate the majority of the churches. But I do hate those who think that they should have special rights because of their religion. I hate those who want to make their religion into a political platform. I totally hate the Dominionists and the others who want to make their religion the Law.
You are right, religion is getting political again. You are seeing the start of the Christian Taliban.

.....and vise-versa. There's a loaded question. Everyone wishes the whole world could see things just like they do. As an agnostic, yes, Christianity seems silly to me but I don't judge people on their religiouse beliefs unless they are really pushy about it. People should be judged by their actions and not their beliefs. I agree completely with the Bible's teachings values and I do live by "the Golden Rule" accept there's the one minor detail that I can't accept: The Son of God. I think it's important to allways look for the common ground be respectful and well..to simply put it- do onto others as you would have them do onto you!

Seems to me like most atheists go well out of their way to ridicule and humiliate Christians especially, and other theists as well. It's almost as though atheists fear the religious minded or feel threatened by them in some way. Perhaps the bad apples do make a name for all. What atheists miss I believe is that a Christian who bombs an abortion clinic completely missed the point of Christianity, much like David Koresh, Fred Phelps, The Roman Catholic Church, etc.

I am going to answer this question in parts, because it has so many.
"Do atheists hate Christians?"

Some do. I do not. I hate christianity, i hate what christians do sometimes, I hate the way they act sometimes, but i do not hate them. I see them as victims of manipulation and often i see them as people uncapable of reason.

"Do they see Christians as weak minded and unintelligent?"
Honestly, with respect to religion and belief in god, I do. One of the peculiarities of religion is that people can be so smart and reasonable in all areas of their lives except this one. But the ability to think that faith is virtue, or that god is their close personal buddy, against all evidence is indeed weakminded and unintelligent in my view.

"I do not mind if atheists disagree with me. I just wish that they could respect me more as an individual."
I argue civilly and rationally. You have to earn respect, you are not entitled to it. If someone openly admits to me that they require no proof to believe in god, and in fact that looking for proof in god is bad, then i cannot respect that view. Religion should not be respected just because it is religion, for in that way lies death and deception.

"Some blame all religion when there are only certain extremists who are the source of the problem. Why is it that everyone gets the blame? A Christian who bombs an abortion clinic is no different than Osama Bin Laden. I understand that! Don't blame all!"
I agree that most of the harm of religion is done by a minority of its practitioners. But if religion is not at all necesary, or good, then all it is doing is allowing that minority to flourish. Since no good case can be made for why any religion is true, and no good case can be made for why religion is beneficial, but many cases can be made for how it allows and encourages war, divisiveness, murder, theft, sexism, racism, homophobia, ignorance, hate, and greed, it should be discouraged, and actively protested. I do not think you are a bad person for being a christian, but I DO think that you are enabling bad people to do bad things by thinking that religion is a good thing.

nicely, that's unfair. percentage wise, that's actual about the same. the same sorts of human beings have a tendency to hate alongside ideological lines. you'll under no circumstances come across a difficulty the position all and sundry hate all of yet another human beings. yet there is alot extra Christians, so their hate crammed percentage outnumbers all of us else, and in many circumstances conditioned protecting atheists are wondered for the extremely hateful atheists.

it does seem that way sometimes doesn't it? try and see those as bad examples of the faith ( which it is because you do need some kind of faith that there is nothing after you die just like you need the same amount to say that there is something afterwards.) Funny thing is that they're starting to become guilty of the same thing, they accuse christians of doing ya know the whole " abolishment of chirstianity" thats been going around. As for which way i go don't ask i honestly don't know i'll just tend to side with whoever is the underdog at the time

Some of the atheists on this site are very judgmental and rude, but not all atheists are.

Most of the ones I've known on-line and IRL have been intelligent, reasonable people. They have respected my sensibilities as long as I've respected theirs.

Atheists are just like us--some are rude and spiteful, and some are polite and straightforward.

No, not at all, I have friends who are religious.
I just don’t believe in fairy tales!

As far as the politicalization of religion come, from the beginning it was the same thing. Religion was used to rule people, for example. The reason that some religions does not allow pig meat, is because people died from trichinosis eating it, not because god told some one that it is "not clean".

Christmas has very little to do with Christianity. As a Christian you should know that. Its origins of celebration are in pagans.

I am an atheist, born as a Christian, and I celebrate Christmas as all atheists do, as family celebration. Christmas is a time when whole family sit together, eat, talk and laugh together. We don't go to church but we don't bind for our neighbors who go to church. I don't like obsessive christian attitude and I also don't like obsessive atheist attitude. Atheists should respect Christians and not insulting them, the same as Christians should do for Atheists.
