God has blessed you! Don't think this is coincidence, it is God. Nothing happens by accident.

Put an add in the paper or a flier up at the thrift store, make them ID the purse that could be someones Christmas money for there family, Groc. bills etc. this could be a lesson. If the purse was free for the taking and not found, then it's yours if you have the means to let some of that money benefit others by all means it's a good chance to help others. If you are in need of that money to catch yourself up or something of that nature count it as blessing and do so.

You say you found a purse in a thrift store that was free? Either you found someone's purse that had been dropped or you stole the purse. Thrift stores do not give away merchandise. Since it would be a rare occurance for any item like that to have not been carefully searched by the employees before putting it on display, I have to say that you probably found someone's purse they dropped and I'd venture to say that whoever owned it was either unaware they'd dropped it or was probably looking for it. You just thought you found a windfall because you paid a tithe? I'm pretty sure that God wouldn't "bless" you at the expense of another. Do you think She would? You are all excited because you found religion, but you don't have to lose your sense of responsibility. I don't think that God wants people to lose their perspective on reality. And I'm pretty sure God still wants you to use your head. Every good thing that happens to you from here on out is not some great blessing from above. Just as every bad thing that happens to you will not be a "test from Satan". It's called Life. If you don't have experiences, you will probably be dead. Your lucky "find" will most likely become someone else's severe problem. I'm sure that you have experienced good fortune (for you anyway) at sometime in your life before you entered a church. And you will continue to have good and bad experiences. Like I said, it's called life. Don't become a drone. Think for yourself and don't do things that will hurt others because you think you've done something so special for God that you deserve some special present. God doesn't hurt one to bless another. You need to contact the store to see if the owner may have asked about it. Then get their information, contact them and return the purse AND the money. It wasn't yours to take. That old saying, "Finders keepers, losers weepers" was always said by the one doing the stealing (yes, I said stealing) and not the one who dropped whatever it was. If you drop something, that doesn't make it mine. It is still yours until you purposely abandon it. You may be looking for it. If I pocket it, I will have stolen it from you. Clear now?

God totally proved hisself to you, do you believe that. When you tithe, from you're heart not expecting anything back God will give back more than what you gave in a mysterious way. Trust me, being a servant for the lord, will definitely pay off. Can you imagine what more God will give you for being obedient. It's not all just about the money and material things , there is much more. Ecxiting isn't it.

Hold it, that money belongs to someone. You really should find out who owned that purse before you because that may be their rent money. You shouldn't be thinking about yourself here. This is an opportunity to do great good. Find the owner of that purse and get that money back to them.

I don't know what happened.
If I found a purse in a Thrift Store and it had money in it......I'd wonder why I found anything in a Thrift store in the first place.
Did you pay at least $2.00 for the purse.....cuz you didn't say you purchased the purse. (w'sup?)

I find that God doesn't do that for me unless I need money, though I have to say through my own experience that if you give money to God you never go poor.
P.S. - I don't think you are supposed to keep that $500 dollars unless you need it. I would put that in the collection basket, too. All of it.

That may have been the life savings of an old aged welfare recipient who was using it to pay their electricity bill and because you didn't try to find them, they may be sitting in a dark, cold apartment, unable to cook their meals. This may be an exaggeration, but it may not.
