You are having a problem "feeling" saved because being saved is not a feeling, nor is it based on emotion. If you have truly recieved Christ, you are saved, whether you feel any different or not. It is not like taking a magic pill that fills you up with happy feelings...although some experience great joy afterward because of their change in understanding. When you realize you are truly saved and that sin cannot keep you from going to God...you "feel" wonderful. When you realize that Christ took away all sin, past present and future, then you are not dealing with issues of guilt and shame like you were before and you realize you can approach God without fear of condemnation. You can access the throne of grace and truly enjoy a close relationship with your Creator. It can create a wonderful feeling. But nothing has to happen in that regard for you to be saved. Wonderful glowy feelings aren't necessary for you to know your saved. It is a mind understanding and the heart responds, not the reverse.

Dear New Believer,
When you were born the first time did you walk or could you even hold your head up? As others have said it is not over night. You are learning a whole new way of life and most will come in time and faith.
I freely confess to you that my prayer life and bible time is week after long years of service. One real reason is I let the trappings and distractions of the world get to me. But, I find that if I do as Jesus did, that is withdraw to a quiet place and pray, you will find yourself more able to concentrate.
Also remember feelings do not count alot. By this I mean you cannot judge your salvation on this alone. Satan and the remorse of past sins will way heavy on you at times. Remember no one comes to God clean and they,as you most certainly have, been saved.
Finally, I will tell you to find a good Bible teaching church. You need guidance and a support group. The Bible tells us not to forsake the gathering of believers. It is through a group you can help and be helped along your walk.

Did you join a church? Continue to read the Bible, and pray, amybe try fasting two meals once a month. regular worship at church, psalms 122:1, john 4:24. Fellowship 1 john 1:3,. Try not to be too hard on yourself. You get the Holy Ghost, you get spiritual gifts, you get the still small voice and it takes time, nd you get regenerated, which means he starts a great work in you and makes you more like Jesus every day, but it won't happen over night. You have to get plugged into a church to find out waht your gifts and talents are so you can get busy for the kingdom. This way you can get with other saved people who will also be able to guide and mentor you in your new walk, because you are a baby christian.

One of the biggest issues with salvation is that people don't feel like Jesus could possibly forgive them and so they have a hard time hearing Him. He IS there though if you prayed a prayer of true repentance. Do you know what you prayed forgiveness for? Why you need a Savior? Make sure you understand this, it is very impotant you know why Jesus died for you and what sin really is and what you are really asking forgiveness for. Ask the Lord to help you hear Him. Sometimes he even puts people in our lives to help us out and we don't realize it until later that God put them there. They will help guide you. It takes awhile to build a relationship with the Lord. It will happen. Don't worry, I will pray for you and I am sure a lot of others on here will too. =)

I've been "saved" for over 50 years and still experience times when I feel as you do, yet I no longer have any serious doubts about the sacred realities, or about my relationship with the Almighty.
You have embarked upon the eternal path to righteousness in Christ. Just hang in there, and allow God's plan for your life to "take effect".
Good things don't happen overnight, and you have plenty of time for all things to come to fruition.
You may also be suffering from depression, or a similar disorder, and need some medical care. If so, get some.
And don't forget to pray.

Feelings are the results of thoughts. Anytime you have a depressed feeling, check up on what you have been thinking about. Your feelings are not a reliable indicator of whether you have been saved or not. They only indicate what you have just been focusing on in your thoughts.
If you want to feel like God is near you, spend time talking to Him. Choose to believe what the Bible says, that He is with you by His Spirit (because it's true). If you are having a hard time, tell Him about that and ask Him to help you. Tell Him every detail. He will understand. It is typical to go through ups and downs as a Christian. It happens to everyone. As you spend time in the Bible and praying, you will get stronger in your convictions. Then you won't have to struggle with little things as much.
Another very helpful thing is to give God thanks and praise. He inhabits the praises of His people. As you give Him praises, and draw near to Him with your heart, He will draw near to you and you can feel His presence. It's great! Everyone has something that they can be thankful to God for. Just start thinking of all of those things, and tell Him thanks for them. Might sound silly, but a lot of times our problem is that we are looking at what's going wrong, or what we don't have, etc. But when we give Him thanks for the things He's done for us, it flips that negative equation. It helps us to realize that even though everything isn't perfect right now, we have a lot to be thankful for.
This advice is not out of some Sunday School lesson, this is what I do in my own life, and it helps me tremendously.
God bless!

I am not a Christian (I am Buddhist) but I would suggest that you talk to the pastor of your church and voice your concerns, he /she will be able to give you guidance and suggestions. There might even be a bible study group you can join, maybe just being around a group of other Christians in a social situation will help give you some inspiration. Don't give up.

i used to feel the same way but don't give up, i got saved at 14 and it took me till i was 18 to fianlly understand everything and fill right about it.
i know exactly how you feel i used to think that i was talking to the air to but i kept doing it, and now i am stronger in my relationship with God.
and God and Jesus do want you, honestly reading the Bible did not bring me closer to God but it helped me see His life and how things were, and it shows me how to live my life.
and when you are trying to be a good Christian, are you feeling that your good deeds are going unnoticed if so, read Job
God often will test Christians to see of they are strong in their beliefs.
I will pray for you, God Bless!!

Because the only person can save you is yourself. The only person who can take responsibility for your actions is you. I could go on and on, but I hope you get the idea.
It is possible to believe in a higher power, whatever name you may use, without any type of religious affiliation. It's possible that at heart you are really a deist (someone who believes in a higher power but not in religion) rather than a christian.
If it doesn't fit you, perhaps it's because it's not right for you.
This is just something for you to think about. And as you do, please remember that strong religious affiliation is pretty much anathema to critical thought.
