I did not have to think long to find the answer. The answer is that hate blinds. It blinds one so much that one can’t see anything good in the object of his hate. That poor Israeli hates Arabs and anyone with Arabic name, to him is a despicable creature even when that person is on his side.

I also saw a video clip of Israeli soldiers trying to break the bones of a Palestinian fighter/terrorist they had captured, by beating his limbs with stone. That video clip was gruesome. It was an affront to humanity. To say it was outrageous is an understatement. It was sheer evil.

However, the difference between Israelis and Muslims is that when that video was shown to average Israelis, they became livid. Do we have such a spontaneous outburst of anger from Muslims when other Muslims butcher innocent people including children? No we don’t. To the degree that a person is a Muslim, he becomes oblivious of other people’s pain. In fact he justifies their sufferings. There is a Jew who conv

Something that has been bugging me about the Bible. The Gospels were written 20 to 50 years after Jesus Passed over..
Thinking logic, with that time difference, which is a long time. Then people quoting Jesus's words, word for word, and what he done. It worries me how much of what is said is fact or fiction.

Point number two, that I have been wondering about, is. Why are their only (four) followers in the bible, and not more? I think he had 12 followers all together..

When the dementor attacked Dudley in HP Book 5, I realized how powerful they are.

This must be proof that Voldemort exists, right? And, of course, Harry Potter must exist, because the books say so.

I'm using Harry Potter books to prove that everything in Harry Potter is true.

Can I do that with all unprovable books of fiction? Does it all mean that "Yeah, God exists" too?

It's the same logic to prove the bible and koran and other cult texts. Just use the text iteself to prove that text is the word of God/Allah/Schmeckle-Man, etc...

I guess there must be a hidden school somewhere in Europe, called Hogwarts -- it's just invisible and we haven't found it yet. Maybe it's right next to where the Ark is resting, huh?

If your kid was missing you would be freaked worried, but if your kid was at your moms or sisters house that you trusted dearly you would not be so concerned. Then would you not be happy instead of crying when a loved one died and you knew was in heaven??

First of all, I am a Christian, and if all you want to tell me is that I'm a fool to believe in God, or that I am not saved for feeling the way I do at times, then please don't answer. It is really just a waste of time for both of us.
Christians are usually thought of as always being optimistic and hopeful and full of light, but I find myself feeling depressed and trapped in my life. I feel like a freak in that I do things differently then most people I know. I wind up becoming obsessed with things that are sometimes dark and seem out of place in my life, because I find myself being annoyed with "Happily ever after". Is this wrong of me? It's not that I constantly feel this way. Sometimes I can be truly happy and everything feels.. right. I read the Bible, pray, and I know Jesus as Savior. I ask God for help every day. Yet I still feel like I am messing up because I act differently.

My neighbor lady says there will be music and no participation in the eucharist is allowed or required. As a fundamentalist, do you think it's wrong since I disagree that the body and blood are literally transformed instead of being symbolic? Anyone else done it? Was it weird or interesting? They do not think I'm a Christian I guess since I would not be allowed to participate. What do you think? Should I leave after the music program?

I was once part of a mega-church community. Today I am agnostic but it wasnt that long ago I remember the contempt many fundies had for Joel Osteen.

The fundies could never get real specific about why Joel Osteen was such a threat, but the answer was obvious. Osteen uses real-speak and doesnt dress his sermons in the facade of constant fundy-speak and numerical biblical references every other sentence.

See, fundies "feel" "feed" when they hear stuff like:

"Here in Jermiah 2:12-15 the lord says to run steadfastly and then he says (100 pages over) in Romans 3:21 to jump, which is why when you look back at Genesis 1:32 you can see he was happy. So remember to jump and run to make the lord happy"

When I channel surf, ocassionally I stop to watch the fundy preachers...I do it for amusement. However, when I have watched Osteen, I have actually done so for more than the standard 20 second surfers pause. Anyone can get something from the guy. Its such a joke that fundies bash him

I asked a question earlier and the is what it was. "Why in a universe so old and big, do we allow our thoughts to be so narrow and small? Tell me what you think"? And this is one of the answers I got I have pasted it below. It just proves the point I was trying to make.Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but considering how big the universe is, we dont even know how many stars, how many galxies, or even how many more species of animals, plants, or insects we havent disovered on earth yet. I mean we just decided pluto wasnt a planet a month or two ago,So here is what he said, tell me what you think. (" See... the probability of a god existing is extremely low. That basically means a god existing has as much chance as existing as the flying spaghetti monster, purple unicorns, Thor, Aphrodite, etc. All have like .01% of being real. If they WERE real - I'd imagine the only plausible explanation is that they're in a parallel universe.")

If everyone thinks that other religions are wrong, then there are more people that think religion is wrong than right. The Jews think that the Christians and Muslims are wrong. The Muslims think that the Jews and Christians are wrong. And you guessed it, the Christians think that the Jews and Muslims are wrong… In fact you can take it a level deeper. The LDS Christians think that all other Christians are slightly wrong. This goes on and on. So if everyone agrees that all "other" religions are wrong, isn’t the correct answer that all religions are wrong?

I will share with you "What Buddhists believe
concerning the God-concept."

People from Judeo-Christian backgrounds especially have asked often if Buddhists
believe in "God". This depends on what is meant by the word "God", for there is a diversity of opinions in the Judeo-Christian world about who or what God is !!

If by the word "God" we refer to the principle of love and compassion, then yes, Buddhists do actually accept those principles. Love and compassion are the essential core of The Buddha's Teachings. Many similarities exist between The Buddhas" Teachings (from 2,500 years ago), and Jesus' Teachings (from 2,000
years ago) in this regard.
If we take "God" to refer to one who has infinate love, and wisdom and who is free of vengeance and partiality, then yes, actually
Buddhists do accept this principle. Love, wisdom, patience, forgiveness and imparitality are qualities of ALL of the Buddhas.
If "God" is used to refer to a creator, then Buddhists have a different, more logical view.
Their view is not based on blind faith.
From a Buddhists logical view, there was no beginning to the continuities of physical matter and consciousness. Since many logical difficulties arise if the existence of a creator is
posited, Buddhists propose a logical alternative.
Buddhists do believe that our mind, was "not" created by another being or by
God, because consciousness cannot be created out of nothing. Furthermore, why would a God create us? Surely there is No logical reasoning to create suffering or even to create beings who have the potential to degenerate from perfection into sufferings. "Buddhists believe that if the cause(God) is perfect, its result(its creation) should also be perfect and without suffering; so the creation of a perfect God should be perfect. If created beings have the potential to degenerate, then they are not
perfect." Reason and Logic are Necessary!
Buddhists do not accept the ideas of original sin, or of an eternal damnation. Nor is a blind faith sufficient alone to attain Peace. Buddhists
live they're life based on logic alone.
But it Must be emphasized, however, that Buddhists see the plurality of religious beliefs
and practices as beneficial. Since people do not think in the same way, a diversity of beliefs enables a person to select a system that helps him or her live a more wholesome, better life.
Thus Buddhists emphasize the importance of Patience toward all human beings and the necessity of religious tolerance.
Also, many who do not have or practice any religiousity, but demonstrate many good morals and ethics which they live by with a clear conscious, are respected, and shown patience and tolerance by all Buddhists.

I hope this gave you and others out in Yahoo Land, a clear understanding on Who & What God is, from a Buddhists viewpoint.

Happy Holidays to you and to everyone out there.
