Dear Johnny,
Please remember that God used a donkey to speak to Balaam to warn him (Numbers 22). If you study your Bible you will find that the church age ended in 1988. The Lord is no longer present in any local congregation or church. Therefore, absolutely NO ONE can be saved there regardless of the accuracy of the preaching (2 Thessalonians 2). If you examine the Scripture I've listed you will find that satan (the man of sin) is now ruling in ALL the local churches. This is also supported by Matthew 24:15, 16 and Revelation 18. The local churches have become Babylon--under the dominion of satan. That is why God is commanding the true believers (elect) to come out of the churches. Those who remain there are being given a strong delusion that they may be damned. These are not my words or ideas; this is what the Bible is telling us.
Please read Matthew 13:24-30. This parable is describing exactly what is going on today. The wheat (true believers) are being separated from the tares (unsaved) by those who are bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All the local churches are following a false gospel (Galatians 1) which only leads to hell.

If someone criticized me for not going to church, my first reaction wouldn't be to call him/her a "scumbag loser." Only scumbag losers do that.

It is our conscience. Which bears witness to the truth of all things. We are given as a comfort, and a guide......the Holy Spirit, when we first believe that Jesus Christ, IS the son of GOD, that he came to die for us...in our stead. We are gently "nudged" by the Holy Spirit when we walk closely with GOD. We are consciously aware when we are about to make a "wrong" moral decision by the Holy Spirit. We KNOW we are the children of GOD, when we walk daily in HIS truth, HIS word (the BIBLE) and obey His commands.
When a person is OUT of fellowship with the LORD (by means of neglecting to pray without ceasing (that being; always talking to the Lord in mind and spirit), when we fail to read the Scriptures, when we get out of the fellowship of a local body of believing Christians in a BIBLE BASED church, when we begin to think that our life is our own, after we have turned it over to Christ.....THIS IS WHEN we become hard of hearing to the Holy Spirit's still, small, calm and quiet voice. The Word of GOD declares that thru the deceitfulness of sin, we become spiritually hardened to the things of GOD. It is that persistent thought :"I can do whatever makes ME feel good" that quenches (puts out) the Holy Spirit's fire within us. When we are not spiritually in line, out consciences become "seared" (as the bible says)...Torn and seperated from the ability to discern the LORD and what HE is saying to us.
WE can know right versus wrong, when we ABIDE IN CHRIST!~
Love and many blessings in this season of HIS BIRTH~
Merry CHRISTmas,
^^7^^

No, because I go to church, but even when I didn't go to church, I had never known anyone like that.

I have come to the conclusion that no matter what I'm doing in my life, someone will come along to criticize me for it.

I get that on occasion. Then I as them why they feel the need to waste several hours of their Sunday, sitting in an uncomfortable seat, supposedly worshiping "God", when "God" is supposed to be everywhere.

Yes, because apparently he had nothing better to do. He also said 'Just wait until the rapture comes. You're going to hell.'
As an atheist, I think this is a load of crap.
