Is there anybody else who feels an absolute joy and sense wonder and fulfillment when learning about the true scientific reasons for the how the universe and everything that is in it came to be ?

Do you feel an immense sense of wonder and amazement when you contemplate the sky at night and marvel at all we have learnt about our orgins and existance and all that there is still to know ?

Finally do you think that this joy and wonder is far superior to simply accepting ancient dogmatic myths as a way of explaining the world around us

PS... A certain St mike replied to me yesterday the following :

"Search no more!!!!

Jesus is the truth, the way and the life!"

That is the kind of thinking that disturbs me.

I say Never stop searching !

Sec. 4: RELIGIOUS TESTS. No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall any one be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments, provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being.

Note the last part :

"provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being."

Funny thing is the quote is taken from a link provided by CM who was trying to deny that the Texas constitution bars atheists from holding office.

There are accusations for members of the clergy of Christian, Jewish and Muslim religions alike, for exercise of pedophilia.

When Isaac became a young boy, God spoke to Abraham and commanded him to take his son to Mount Moriah and offer him as a sacrifice to God. Do you suspect any relation between the sacrifice and pedophilia?

....... yet make up about 10 percent of thr general population.

Christians represent 75 percent of the population and also represent 75 percent of the prison population.

This means that atheists are 50 times less likely to offend.

What does this say about the christian belief that their religion makes them better people and that atheists who don't share this belief must be morally bankrupt as a result.

I wonder how many christians who arte desperate to be right at all costs and hate the idea of cold hard facts casting their beliefs in a negative light will use the old "Well they were atheists when they committed the crime but they found god while in prison" excuse.

when in 7 states atheists are not allowed to hold public office nor be a witness in court.

Is it a case of freedom of religion as long as you have a religion

In the United States, some State Constitutions require a religious test as a qualification for holding public office. For instance The Bill of Rights of the Texas Constitution provides that an official may be "excluded from holding office" if he does not "acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being." Similarly, North Carolina, South Carolina & Tennessee all have mandatory disqualifications in their State Constitutions from public office for those who deny God

So I am pretty much a full-fledged Catholic. I've gone through all of the ceremonies: Baptism, Communion, Confirmation, etc. You know the deal.

At any rate, I really do not know what to think of the Catholic Church anymore. A lot of their policies just do not seem to integrate with what the Bible says, so I'm very wary about what to believe religion-wise anymore.

But that's not the issue.

The issue is that my sister had a Baby in August and in October asked me to be his Godfather. The Baptism is in March of next year. I'm a freshman in college and I'm trying to figure out how I should be feeling about a religious ceremony in a church that I'm shaky over now. But I do not want to disappoint my sister and my family either. It's not like I plan on leaving the church, I'm just not sure of where I stand with it.

I think I've basically been rambling this whole time, but I think you answerers may get the idea of what I'm trying to ask.

How would you feel in this situation?

OK, I have a questions for Atheist from the Qur'an. Allah (God) directly ask the Atheist in the Qur'an:
"If there is no God; then who created you? Were you created from nothing or are you the creaters of yourself?"

Allah also says in the Qur'an there are only two thing that prevent people from believing after the signs have been made completely clear to them:
1. They want a prestigious status and leadership
2. They want oppression over others

A wise man once said "If I saw a footprint tells me there has been a person walking here, If I see smoke it tells me there's fire there, If I see dropping of a camel I know a camels been there, so are you trying to tell me all of these mountains and these deserts and this world that has been created in a perfect system doesn't have a creator behind it, how can you have that?"

Apple seeds, orange seeds, watermelon seeds, mustard seeds, ect. ect.

What is there explanation for seeds? You can slic um, dice up cut them up and open in all kinds of ways, but you find anything in them; you wont get anything from them until you plant them in the ground and water them.

Me personally, I think it's an example of faith that God has given us. That although we dont see anything in the seeds, we dont see anything bulging at the seems of the seed, we must at some point believe although we dont see yet(faith) that when we put the seed in the ground and water it, that something will sprout up
The same kinda applies to us;we must offer ourselves as a seed to God;that through faith and through patience, God may make us into more than we appear to be.

Again, what is scientist non-creator explanation for seeds?

They are indirectly causes millions of deaths by their stance against condoms (and increasing poverty as well). This is what religion is supposed to be? A bunch of made of crap rules that are not found in the bible (I am not religous but I respect religions in their pure forms)?
Don't give me this crap about "It's the peoples fault" etc! The Catholic Church is influencing many to avoid condom use.

This would be the same situation as promoting drugs, wives beatings, and smoking. It's the people's fault for doing it, right??
Imagine if the government said "everyone should smoke and beat their wives"? What would everyone say about that? It's the people's fault??? Probably not, they would blame the government. So then why does the Catholic Church get a pass? Those hypocrite leaders.

Word splipped my tongue but changing the letters from santa to satan is 'they' say from its origins of name, check up yourselves lol.
However is it a coincidence as long names abreviated could be made into a variety of ends.

Thus, is celebrating (worshiping) santa actually celebrating satan on Jesus's birthday ?

After a recent debate with someone one about what it is that defines all Christians from any other group of the Judeo-Christian-Islamic persuasions, I started to wonder. Why do most Christians insist that Catholics aren't Christians, when the definition of a Christian is one whom believes Jesus Christ is his/her savior/mesiah?
