Its the attraction not the act that makes one a homosexual. There are many people who are sexually/emotionally attracted to members of their own sex and just because they do not act on their desires doesn't make them heterosexual. There are many people who engage in homosexual acts that do not consider themselves homosexual or even bisexual.

That's incorrect.

Homosexuality is not just about committing homosexual acts, but about having a same-sex attraction. Some homosexuals never act on their homosexual feelings, but they're still homosexual. Heterosexuals can engage in homosexual acts, but they're not homosexuals because they don't have this same-sex attraction.

Also, research has shown that the brains of heterosexuals and homosexuals work slightly differently, which supports further that it's not just acts but really a sexual orientation.

Well, if you communicated a homosexual act, wouldn't that usually make you a homosexual? i think Gore Vidal may just be in denial.

Disagree. A homosexual can be reasonably defined as a person who does homosexual acts in preference to heterosexual ones.

I think there are different ways of stating the same facts. I Believe that people are NOT born as a homosexual but rather that events throughout their lives lead to them becoming "Homosexual" and then they make the choice to practice it.
So in a way, yes there are no homosexuals... Hope it makes a bit of sence

Gore Vidal might be a bright man, but on this he was wrong, if only because there are no effects without causes.

Homosexualism is not in the genes, it is in the will. This is what this statement implies. It does not tell the whole story which is more complicated.
