Why are we so content to sit back and take the charge that we rely on "blind faith?" Why aren't we staying informed about history, and the real evidence for our beliefs? We know that our faith is not blind, why don't they?

I am not a christian and am against turning this country into a theocracy, but I am also against banning songs without good reason. There's nothing dirty or inciteful in these lyrics, but the song has been banned from the radio in a lot of places because of the risk of offending non-christian americans--I don't know about you, but I'm a big girl, and if I don't like a song, I know where the seek button is

In God We Still Trust
Lyrics

Performed by Diamond Rio

You place your hand on His bible, when you swear to tell the truth.
His name is on our greatest monuments an' all our money too.
An' when we pledge allegiance, there's no doubt where we stand:
There's no separation, we're one nation under Him.

In God, we still trust here in America,
He's the one we turn to every time the going gets tough.
He is the source of all our strength, the one who watches over us.
Here in America, in God, we still trust.

Instrumental break.

Now there are those among us,
Who want to push Him out.
And erase his name from everything,
This country's all about.
From the schoolhouse to the courthouse,
They're silencing His word,
And now it's time for all believers,
To make our voices heard.

In God, we still trust here in America,
He's the one we turn to every time the going gets tough.
He is the source of all our strength, the one who watches over us.
Here in America, in God, we still trust.
Here in America, in God, we still trust.
Here in America,
Here in America, in God, we still trust.
Here in America, in God, we still trust.
Here in America

If you were given a choice between deliberately causing serious injury, or even death, to a child or blaspheming god, would self-interest dictate that you harm the child, or would you put the child's safety first?

I know many Christians who appear to be very accepting of gays, and I know many atheists who are bigots. Prejudice seems to flow freely no matter who you are or what your beliefs.

I was asking simply why YOU as a person are so sure that homosexuality is a choice. Give me an answer, and leave the scripture out of it this time.

Why do you deny that homosexuals are born that way? What makes you so sure that it's a choice?

I mean this in any form you care to take it - Buddhism or academia or everyday life. It seems to me that expanded awareness - having a broader scope of awareness, being aware of both self and environment - may be in opposition to the benefits of concentration. I study a movement form that embodies both and pursues both, but am lost on the connection between the two. Any feedback on this general philosophical question?

The new facts that have come to light (Book of Judas for Christians, Mohammed's many marriages to rich women, and his adultry towards his servants' wives), show that both prophets were very human, and probably had moral lapses although they were probably decent humans, and leaders in their own right.

Just the fact that Mohammed's face is never shown (although you can Google for it) and Christ is shown as a Caucasian, not the swarthy Palestine he really was---these mis-statements should make you question everything, should it not? Or is blind faith able to overcome all investigation?

God said; "here are these naughty humans, here is the earth, go at them with all you want, you'll probably get the upper hand, if they are tested but still believe in me, they go to heaven, if not, they are all yours".
Why would God do that? Supposing he did create Satan and give him the earth and hell just for us, and supposing Satan is the ruler of his own spiritual realm given to him by God, that is, assuming God actually MADE hell,
Then is that what life is really all about? God and Satan bargaining for human mammals souls?
I mean, I know God has a lot of time on his hands but, sheesh.

Faith, religious faith, is something like belief despite the lack of evidence. If there was enough evidence to reasonably believe in God, there would be no need for faith, or a leap of faith or whatever kids are saying these days...

Faith, as in 'trust', is based on observation. I trust that when I sit on a chair, I won't phase through it and fall to the center of the earth, because I have sat on chairs thousands of times and it hasn't happened before. Also, such phasing, without any amazing gadgets, is almost scientifically impossible. This "faith", which should really just be called trust, is evidence based.

So why do some religious people claim the two types of "faith" are the same? Why claim an atheist has "faith", when you damn well know they have nothing remotely like religious faith!?

(Note that if you claim they have something like "religious faith" explain how your answer satisfies my definition of religious faith above.)

The Lord shared with me the other day the importance of judging ourselves. Sin was judged the very first day it arrived in the Garden of Eden. The judgment of sin is death. If we cleave to sin eventually we will receive the reward which is death. Gods mercy is the only thing that keeps us from it. In 1Corinthians 11:31, God tells us to judge ourselves and then we will not be judged. He told me when we judge ourselves we nullify the judgment that is against us. I heard Brother Copeland say once that he does this every morning. When we do this we are walking in the Spirit of Life. For the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has set us free from the law of sin and death. What is your opinion?

Numbers 9:6 And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body (nephesh) of a man, that they could not keep the passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day:

Numbers 31:19 And do ye abide without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person (nephesh), and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify both yourselves and your captives on the third day, and on the seventh day.

Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die.

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls (psuche) of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

Revelation 16:3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul (psuche) died in the sea.

I'm wondering if we, living in the USA or Europe, living in affluence, should feel kind of guilty of the hunger and starvation in poor countries. It's weird when we eat more that we actually need or when we throw it away.
I know that it wouldn't help if we ate less, but what does actually Church and Christianity say about that contratiction?

Thank you

Christ said to peter to build HIS church on the rock ie, the church of Christ or the LORD’S church and he promised to save only the church which he built but not any other church that is established by men(Pentecost, catholic, hebron etc) moreover Christ stated that every plant that the heavenly father has not planted shall be rooted up …and how shall a person from other church have GOD if he dosent abide in the doctrine of Christ? 2john9:11

It takes more than being honest and sincere to be saved moreover a person must not only be religious but religiously right so LEARN 2tim2:15…so what will the people from other churches face in the end?

I can't imagine the conversations

Do they primarily consist of questions like this?
"So, what did God do for you today Jimmy?"

Do you ever discuss the big questions?
Is the answer always "Cos the Bible tells me so....."

Serious question.
