as a lebanese christian, i thoroughly understand the horror of radical islam and its rapidly spreading hold in the world today. but from what i understand about islam, the extremests are actually TRUE muslims, while western muslims living in america and other countries are not, because the quran clearly calls for a holy jihad against all those that are not muslims. i just dont see how american muslims who do not share this desire for a holy war can truly call themselves muslims, and i don't see why american muslims don't stand up and say radical islam is wrong. i really want a muslim perspective to this question, because i don't want to misjudge anyone based on this faith. i just want to understand.

Before I did extensive Bible study, I found many things I felt were inconsistencies in it. Such as these words of Christ:

Revelation 3:11:
11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.

It seemed to me that 2000 years wasn't quickly. But then I found this scripture:

2 Peter 3:8:
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

Ahhh, there was the answer.

So, again, how much Bible knowledge must a Christian have to fully understand the Bible, being so many scriptures needed to be cross-referenced and taken together? Opinions?

Or did you not investigate it? If not, were you just brainwashed to believe it?

Did you read the whole bible before becoming a Christian?

1. Having a "feeling" is not an investigation

2. Having unexplained experiences is not an investigation

3. Hearing voices is not an investigation

4. Hallucinating in not an investigation

5. Having "faith" in not an investigation

If you didn't investigate it, how do you know it's true?

The doctrine of universal salvation, the belief that all souls will be redeemed eventually through the love of God. Based on the knowledge that an all-loving God wouldn't let his creations burn in hell for their mistakes and still be all- loving.

Was considered the main doctrine up until the 6th century, when the Catholic Church declared it as a heresy and the corrupted doctrine of limited salvation took its place.

This states that all religions are united under one God, and that all individuals will experience total peace in heaven with Him, regardless of faith (or lack of). Various verses in the Bible can be used to support this. However, seeing as taking the Bible literally has led to such idiot crusades like creation, that doesn't count. I'm just letting you know.

Anyway, tell me what you think of this, and tell me if your God would let his creation burn in the realm of his enemy.

CHRISTIANS ONLY!!! (please?)

Charles Darwin himself once asked this question,
"Why, if species have descended from other species
by fine gradations, do we not everywhere see innumerable
transitional forms? Why is not all nature in confusion, instead of
the species being, as we see them, well defined?…
But, as by this theory innumerable transitional forms must have
existed, why do we not find them embedded in countless numbers in
the crust of the earth?… But in the intermediate region, having
intermediate conditions of life, why do we not now find closely-
linking intermediate varieties?"

Just come to quick godless conclusions based on personal theory?
Those with Parkinson's disease (like my Mom and her doctor) only know they have it by ruling out every other dibilitating disease of it's kind.

Ok, just a month ago, I started going out with my best friend (fake name) Landon. We were best friends for a year before he asked me out and I really love him. But I'm not allowed to date and we aren't in the same religion. I know that sounds weird coming from a girl like me, but I put God first and I want to follow His standards. That doesn't mean I dont love my best friend. But I need to break up. I'm going to pray about it a lot. But I want other thoughts too. I'm scared of breaking up because I know he loves me, and I dont know if we will ever be friends again. Our friendship was strong. It would be too sad to break that. I also realized that I have my whole life to look for a boyfriend. Even though I always wished it wold be him. Should I break up? It's only been a month. I don't want him to feel like I just used him because I didn't know what I wanted.
How do I explain to him my reason for breaking up?

How is this different than the how-can-2-billion-people-be-wrong-about-the-universe arguement that the Christians attack normal people with?

I was wondering if there is anyone who is into biblical studies that is in need of accountability and just wants to talk to someone about bible. I am a sophomore at columbia international university and am majoring in Biblical Theology and Biblical Languages and would love to talk to someone concerning anything relating to the bible. I was thinking that maybe skype or something like that would be a good way to commuicate and challenge each other.

It seems that those Jews who believe Rabbi Manachem Schneerson is the Messiah are acceptable to the Jewish community but those that believe that Yeshua is the Messiah are not. There seems to be some inconsistancy here.

Christianity wormed its way into the Roman Empire's government by changing the original form of christianity into something more palatable to Roman authority. Once they had established themselves, they set about taking over the pagan temples and eliminating the competition. What followed was the collapse of the Roman Empire and the beginning of the Dark Ages. Science, technology, art and freedom were all oppressed and religious superstition became mandatory.
Since christianity is attempting to take over the American government, can we expect similar results?

If you consider yourself a Christian before reading the whole bible, you will be bias while learning about it which will cause your learning to be flawed.

That's why most christians are no match in a debate with Atheists.

You escape the conversation by saying the following
"I have faith"
"This conversation will never get anywhere" (That's what you want)

What if someone here said that they've written a book under the guidance of the Holy Spirit...

Would you accept it as the New Gospel?

If you wouldnt, so why did you accept the Gospel of John etc in your Bible?

I was wondering what Christians think of hell in general. Ghandi, according to the Bible, is eternally suffering in the pit for his "wrong doings". If he is, and Christianity happens to be right, I'll be glad to go burn with him. Maybe I don't want to go to such a Heaven that doesn't care how good or bad a person is. What sort of god would send a person to hell simply for being different? What about being a good person? I guess God just doesn't give a damn. And wouldn't Hitler, as a Christian(?), have gone to Heaven? Where is the justice in that? How could you fallow such a god?
