Most People need to find comfort some how, religion, in my view is how they get that comfort, that everything will be alright, as long as you follow these rules.

Yes, regardless of your religion... Everyones personal beliefs about life are the basis for their daily choices and evaluation of those choices

Theorie provoke Imagination
Imagination creates belief
Belief governs Choices/Evaluations
This is the cycle that I have observed in most humans.

I belive in the world as something that humans are ultimately responsible for and that there is no intelligent higher power. So yes, everyone needs something to belive in; for me, it's reality.

I guess so, but that would be a pretty weak reason for believing something, don't you think?
I could say I believe in my neighbour's dog - but that wouldn't do me much good.
