there are very few people who believe rabbi schneerson was the messiah. he obviously is not the messiah, for the same reason jesus was not the messiah - he didn't fulfill the prophecies. the reason believing rabbi schneerson is the messiah is not unacceptable to the jewish community is because even those who do believe in him as the messiah do not worship him as G-d or as the son of G-d, and they don't pray to him. the problem judaism has with christianity is not the belief in jesus as the messiah, it is the belief that jesus is G-d, which is idolatry. there is absolutely NO jewish belief that the messiah will be in any way a divine. if somebody went beyond believing in rabbi schneerson as the messiah to believing in him as G-d or as the son of G-d, they would be rejected by judaism just as people who believe that jesus is G-d or the son of G-d are.

On the plus side you will find that Rabbi Schneerson disagreed with the concept that a Jew who came to belief in Yeshua stopped being a Jew. Watch as he discusses this with a Jew who converted to being Roman Catholic:

Next, please realize that the Meshichist view that the Rebbe was and will be Moshiach is definately a minority view among Chabad Lubavitch. Though, there are certainly a few vocal proponents of the idea such as the founder of "Jews for Mendel" the self-proclaimed "Rabbi", Moshe Yess:
http://rabbiyess.com/
Don't believe his grand claims of 1000 rabbis claiming that the Rebbe is Moshiach, you will find that most of those 1000 rabbis would disagree with his claims.
Such grandeous claims don't sit well with the rest of the Orthodox world. Consider the rather anti-Chabad views voiced here:
http://failedmessiah.typepad.com/
Some of Chabad have been attempting to put forward definative proof that the Rebbe could not have been Moshaich, such as this book here:
http://moshiachtalk.tripod.com/
And for those who would claim that the primary difference between Yeshua and Mendel is that no one ever claimed Mendel to be G-d..... Check out the claims of Rabbi Ariel Sokolovsky who says "The Rebbe is G-d Almighty" here:
http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4UIEqyQ0baNx3TDgfGQv0d.6MoP3a4w-?cq=1&p=1
and calls Schneerson, "Rebbe G-d Almighty" here:
http://rebbegod.blogspot.com
Yes, people who make such claims are considered to be heretics by the vast majority of Orthodox Judaism. (Just as Messianics are considered to be heretics.)

Tough to accept the truth, especially when your people have been denying it for 2000 years. I still love Israel, dont get me wrong.
It would take too much humility, maybe? Matthew 28:15 helps I think.
Dont know, just throwing it out there.
Shalom!
Blessings Rabbi
David

your clearly not a Rabbi.
"Schneersonites" as you call them are not accepted by the Jewish community.
They are considered heretics plain and simple.
