Was banning gays from having legally protected relations by passing the defense of marriage amendments so important that it was worth stripping domestic violence protections from unmarried women? Or was that the intention all along?

I was thinking one night in bed about whether or not there is or isn't a god. It's nice to know that you're never alone, that someone is always looking down upon you from above, and that everything has a reason and a plan. But do we believe in god just for the comfort of this knowledge and because it’s how we are raised or is it something deeper? Some children are deprived from even the mention of a god. The option of that belief doesn't even cross their mind. What is your opinion about all this?

We all lie. Daily. We keep things quiet to not hurt others. At least 100 times a day we have thoughts we keep hidden from others, just because we think it might offend them or hurt them.

I will never tell the mother that her new-born baby looks like a melted E.T. Why would I tell her that? But not telling her if she asks me what her baby looks like, is a lie.

Did Jesus simply offend a lot of people in order to stay without sin?

I am putting this in a religious category for a reason. I was reading a book on Christian marriage and somewhere it says that you can seduce a guy with your hair.

How in the world can you do that???

Atheists are treated like freaks in the United States yet we're not the ones that believe there's an invisible person in the sky with super powers, that said invisible man created everything just because he was bored and need a way to stroke his ego, that humans have only been around for 7,000 years (all the fossils that prove evolution to be are fake), dinosaurs weren't real, and etc..... and those who believe in all that non-supported bulls*** are considered the social norm?

How exactly does this happen?

The LORD is a jealous God, filled with vengeance and wrath. He takes revenge on all who oppose him and furiously destroys his enemies! The LORD is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished. He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm. The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet. At his command the oceans and rivers dry up, the lush pastures of Bashan and Carmel fade, and the green forests of Lebanon wilt. In his presence the mountains quake, and the hills melt away; the earth trembles, and its people are destroyed. Who can stand before his fierce anger? Who can survive his burning fury? His rage blazes forth like fire, and the mountains crumble to dust in his presence. The LORD is good. When trouble comes, he is a strong refuge. And he knows everyone who trusts in him. But he sweeps away his enemies in an overwhelming flood. He pursues his foes into the darkness of night. (Nahum 1:2-8 NLT)

Faith is a drug that should be outlawed. It is infinitely more dangerous than marijuana because while marijuana alters your perception for a few hours, faith alters it for life. If people believe that they are going to live after death, that will cause them to make drasticly different choices on earth. People live their lives based on their beliefs.

Why wear it so it'd only show your eyes? I mean wouldn't that entice a man even more? The way I see it is it creates more beauty and mystery and it's very intriguing, even though I'm straight, I think it makes you even more attractive. What do you think?

I know this answer has been asked before but here is the situation. My father-in -law and I have always been close. I have always believed in God and he hasn't. Recently I have decided to learn more about the Bible, God and Jesus and he seems very put off by it. He will not get into my car because I have "Jesus Fish" on it. Once we were very close and we could joke about anything. What is going on? It really bothers me that things are changing. Why do they have to change, is he avoiding me or am I acting different?

Whether you ignored him or not and you begged him to give you another chance? Just a question because I'm curious how you'd answer that. I apologize if it's a stupid question.

Some people said they can actually hear him inside them, like talking to someone else.

take what is good and turn it to evil. For instance the Republican party united the country and freed the slaves 140 years ago but now it is clearly the party of evil and destruction.

Wouldn't it be good to have an international forum on a frequent basis where religious leaders from around the world get together to resolve their misunderstandings and ignorance of each others once and for all?

It must be a forum where everyone engage in peaceful understanding of one another by totally opening up without taking offence at any sort of bashing. It is peaceful understanding where everyone learn of each others' differences and why they are different. From this, everyone'll understand why others do wnat they do. And find out if what others believe and practise are more appropriate than what we ourselves believe and practise, leaving no room for blind conformity. And this forum shouldn't be a place to convert, but to resolve differences.

I suggest this because many times we got into superior-inferior mentality by proclaiming our religion as the best, the original, the highest, the truest, etc. We sound like we are already very familiar with the other religions as well as our own and have come to the conclusion that our own religion is still the best. When questioned, we usually don't even have the slightest correct idea of the teachings of other religions besides our own. And made vague statements based merely on light observation. Yet when persuaded to understand, we'll say "Why should I study about your religion?". I believe such continuing ignorance and blind arrogance are obstacles to religious harmony.

What do you think? By the way, I expect mature feedback.

Your religion invented the Hell-concept. At least that's how I see it. To me it's not a real thing, it's imaginary. You warn me for something imaginary. That truly sounds like wishful thinking to me.

I know that for you it is a real concept. But can you at least understand that to me it sounds like you almost wish it were true that people like me will burn forever?

Once science can attribute all of our cognitive functions to our brain (which it will), will Christians finally stop believing in the soul?

How can we have free will if "God" knows everything that we are going to do? If God made us and gave us free will, then he would have to be making something over which he had no control, our decisions. Therefore, God can not be all powerful as Christians say he is. Either we have free will and God is not all powerful, or we don't have free will and God makes some of us "sinners" and burns us in hell for fun.
