Wouldn't it be good to have an international forum on a frequent basis where religious leaders from around the world get together to resolve their misunderstandings and ignorance of each others once and for all?

It must be a forum where everyone engage in peaceful understanding of one another by totally opening up without taking offence at any sort of bashing. It is peaceful understanding where everyone learn of each others' differences and why they are different. From this, everyone'll understand why others do wnat they do. And find out if what others believe and practise are more appropriate than what we ourselves believe and practise, leaving no room for blind conformity. And this forum shouldn't be a place to convert, but to resolve differences.

I suggest this because many times we got into superior-inferior mentality by proclaiming our religion as the best, the original, the highest, the truest, etc. We sound like we are already very familiar with the other religions as well as our own and have come to the conclusion that our own religion is still the best. When questioned, we usually don't even have the slightest correct idea of the teachings of other religions besides our own. And made vague statements based merely on light observation. Yet when persuaded to understand, we'll say "Why should I study about your religion?". I believe such continuing ignorance and blind arrogance are obstacles to religious harmony.

What do you think? By the way, I expect mature feedback.

Obstacle to religious harmony - "My religion X is the best. Religion Y and Z aren't even comparable to my religion X. But I know only a little about religion Y and Z and don't bother to know more about them" kind-of-mentality.

There is a growing movement among many Jews, Christians, Muslims, and others to find common ground and things to agree on, and to work together to help solve many of the world's most pressing problems.

There are a great many cynical people out there who believe that Muslims, Catholics, Jews, Evangelicals, Buddhists and others can't get along. This is simply not true. While there are many people from every religious tradition who are limited in thinking, there are many others who see the beauty in the world's great religions while also enjoying the beauty in their own.

Thanks for posting your question, and for sharing hope. Know that you are not alone.

peace

Christ said he came to divide. Are you saying he is wrong. He said there would be many who claim to speak in his name. Would you want to associate with those of whom he spoke, or do you think he is wrong and that every christian is basically good enough for God and Christ, so they shouldn't be choosy? Should Christ have taught his followers not to turn their backs on their old religions, as there may be something good about them? Aside from Judaism, there were hundreds of pagans religions that may have basic good things about them, so they should have come together. Actually, that doesn't work, as Christians began turning back to their old religions to mix the beliefs, since living only by the teachings of Christ was boring and hard. And that was in the time of the Apostle Paul.

I don't think that will help at all...because there are so many who would want to change the way others believe still...and I am firm in my foundational beliefs and have no desire to change them or have others change to mine if they don't want to...but to sit and learn of each others beliefs ..I think it will be alot like this. forum...everyone knows you cant talk about politics and religion and stay calm all the time...someone will show their true self's sooner or later......when Jesus comes then we will have true world peace and not until then....man cant bring peace no matter how he tries....he hasn't done it yet in all these years ...he more then likely wont in the remaining ones we have left.

‘would I look for the perspectives of our knowledgeable contributors of Y/A on a thank you to locate the scope of "non secular solidarity" in destiny?’ you may certainly: maximum human beings of a particular faith will ‘stay and permit stay,’ they, like I, haven't any dispute with the common Muslim or Sheikh or Hindu. I haven't any objections to different peoples ideals, what i do in comparison to are the folk who use fanaticism and/or consistently badger and demand they're real on each and every component, and that i'm a Christian. notwithstanding i've got faith the Christian faith is the real faith, I base this on deep study and go reference of alternative faith structures. in spite of the undeniable fact that, i don't intentionally look for to reason strife by way of my opinion, in basic terms too summit my component on the situation whilst reported as to attain this, if i've got faith the placement is going to get out of hand, i'll withdrew, as in my journey it then only will become a tit-for-tat argument which serves no objective. it quite is those people who intentionally look for to be argumentive, and/or use fanaticism too justify their ends alongside with the hierarchy that motives the strife between non secular communities. And it quite is those people who will reason ‘disharmony interior of faith’ sooner or later. so as long as there are followers and argumentive people who insist everybody would desire to think of and have faith as they do, then the scope for non secular solidarity would not seem to promising for the destiny.

You're describing the World Council of Churches, which has been in existence for quite some time. It has accomplished quite a bit, including completely watering down any faith it touches...basically rendering all faiths toothless.

But, in reality, different religions aren't compatible with the idea of compatibility....they are all offering different philosophies, ideals, paths to God, and many of them are not amenable to "agreeing" with other faiths. What you support would actually render all faiths meaningless.

There can be no harmony where there is religion. Religion requires faith. Faith contradicts reason. Reason, as man's best tool of survival, sustains us. Faith therefore leads the march towards death. That causes the faithful to want to take others with them. Simple as apple pie.

I think that's a great idea, like a UN of Religion. Yep & once they're all gathered together in the same spot some asshole comes along & bombs it.

I think for a large majority of the world, it would be wonderful. Where we avoid misunderstanding, we sow harmony.
