Jesus said,"I have come not to call the
righteous, but the sinner to repentance".

Jesus ate with tax collectors and prostitutes to show people that even He was no better than the rest of us. In His humanity. No person is better than another. Whether they are a senator, a teacher, a zoologist, a housewife, a maid, a taxi driver, a drug dealer, a 'pimp, a prostitute. We are all God's children and God loves us all equally. He created us equally and we have the same choose to make as to whether we choose to believe or not. His 'choosen' people are His believers, not Jews or Christians, or religious people. We are all given the same opportunity to receive eternal life in Heaven with God.

I don't understand your 2nd sentence--'that's why we are here.'

Even Jesus knew that you can't change any ones mind or heart without them getting to know you, and without being among them. But the second part of your question "If Jesus did that's why we are here" doesn't make much sense. The Christians here are here for two things as far as I can see. 1) to hear themselves and others with like ideas, talk or 2) to argue, berate, chastise, and show hatred towards non-believers so that they appear to be better than the rest.

Jesus stayed away from Highly Religious Folk--HE knew that their Souls had Really been Brain Washed--it's hard for a Religiously Brain Washed Soul to Accept the TRUTH. Jesus still Loved them, but couldn't help them much. HE went to People HE could Help.

I agree.

We can add weird women, men of little faith, fishermen, prostitutes, the sick, and the very poor to the list of people Jesus interacted with.

Why is it that so many of us Christians choose to keep a distance from those struggling in life? Can we possibly say we are truly following Jesus' teachings if we choose to avoid those in need? Those who fail?

peace

We should all do the same. Instead of looking down on others and thinking we are better than them, we should accept them and treat them equally. Forgive people and help them. Sorry this doesnt really answer a question but I would love to see this happen in our society.

I've eaten with sinners my whole life, but I've yet to dine with a real tax collector.

Is it an experience I should look forward to?

Why?
