Who are we to judge another culture, right?

It's interesting to me that the sexual issues are being raised repeatedly, but that there has been nothing said about slavery, subjugation of women, the feudal economic system, or the murder/suicide of Socrates.

Not only can you not judge that culture, it is futile to try. They've been dead 2000 years. What's more, we don't exactly know all the issues at hand. My grandparents, as recently as 1916, were married when they were 17 (my grandmother) and 15 (my grandfather). They didn't even need permission. In this day and age, my grandmother might have, in some states, been considered a child molester. But that was a different time, and no one batted an eye.

It is impossible to view the ethics of an ancient society through the eyes of our own. It will lead us only to a sense of self-righteous piety and not allow us to view how well they lived up to their own ethics.

As i'm an Orhtodox christian so it quite is from my attitude a kinfolk combat. With my co religonists scuffling with ove the concern I see the coolest judgment on the two facets of the argument It incorporates one in all ethnic identiry- there are 3 areas that would desire to calim to have the call Macedonia Blagoevgra province in Bulgaria which has been reported as Pirin Macedonia the Republic of Macedonia which became historicaly reported as vardar macedonia and Ageian Macedonia in Greece. we could play naming video games for hundreds of years without outcomes as long because of the fact the common deffention of a Macedonian amoung the folk of the Macedonias dose not alow for them to be devided. the 1st step to setteling the concern is to enhance kinfolk and do issues which includes estalishing a loose commerce zones with constrained return and forth regulations so one and all has a veted interst in sharing th macedonian call.

My understanding of that time period is that boys who acted as sex slaves were not doing so out of their own free will. They were being used, and I think that that is a disgrace to what a sexual relationship should be about. I don't believe a child is old enough to make that kind of decision and I highly doubt these boys were asked.

So yes, by those cultural standards it was okay. But to me, it was morally sick.
