Should I start reading the Bible? I know that the decision has to come within me, but I want to hear what people think. I think analysing the Bible will help me to better interpret what the Bible's meaning is. I guess deep inside of all of us we want to believe that there is a superior good being that will protect us from all harm, but I guess many people don't believe (including me) because we can't physically see him/her.

I have seen and have answered many questions about religion and being Christian. I notice that I seem to be the only one that admits that I do wrong everyday and that I am not perfect. I do not quote Bible verses and bash anyone for the sins they commit because I do the same. I truely believe a sin is a sin. I mess up like everyone else. Just because I am a Christian doesn't mean I am any better than an athiest or the guy in jail. My first rules of being Christian are to not judge, which can be hard at times, and to love one another. If I can't love or even like someone, I don't take revenge or get nasty, I just walk away. Yes these are my rules and I fail at times. I will never be able to follow the Bible.. none of us can word by word. I do what I can. If everybody in the world loved each other and didn't judge anyone imagine the peace there would be. Before I get bashed about what I SHOULD be doing, i will say that I believe in guiding others to God, not forcing it.

Take a look at Revelation 21:5-8.

What does that passage mean to you? In particular, what does "he who overcomes" mean to you in this context?

Attached is a link to Bible Gateway.org for this scripture.

Please,
I'm trying.

I study science and want to know what it has gotten us.
We have technology but it eliminates the need for people to want to understand each other. We don't need anyone anymore since everything can be ordered, bought or easily made.

I don't even have to leave my house anymore to survive.
Should life be this easy?

I think of the tribal people and indigenous peoples and see they have happiness with nothing to call their own. Are we any better?
At least their ways are self-sustaining, aren't they?

We know evolution has merit but not complete, but we also know the several versions of god exist indepedently across the world.

So, even if your not into looking into other's beliefs, we should at least establish some sort of understanding of each other and what they can contribute right now.

How will the earth look in 200 years?
What if you were in charge?
Who says we can't be?
This is serious, what do we do right now?
What is the next step ?
peace

I just want to read the bible without knowing where I am in the book. I may sound silly, but numbering every sentence breaking every few paragraphs down into chapters is really distracting. I just want to read what was written, nothing else.

Since we can not prove Evolution as the origin of the species, isn't it fair to the school children to teach them alternate theories. One of these is intelligent design. Some have proposed a flying spaghetti monster. Some have proposed Q.

Would it be ok for me to suggest that any theory that is essentially religious in nature not be taught in a public school science class, and we stick with those scientific theories that in fact are real science, those that have hypothesis that can be disproven through expiriments,

essenitally, Evolution is a scientific theory since it is based on premises that could be disproven. You could with the scientific equipment try and disprove that your DNA is 98% similar to a chimpanzee.

I don't think I can disprove that Q invented the universe, therefore its not real science, and should not be taught in a public science class. Do you agree?

A lot of Christian churches ascribe to the teachings of the Prosperity Doctrine (a la Creflo Dollar and Joel Osteen).

Look at the New Testament, how many Christians in the new testament were rich? To me it seems contrary to what Jesus taught.

Your thoughts?

12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Why is it that when a question is asked about islam, some non-muslim will insist on answering, even when I already said in my question that non-muslim need not reply. It is just so damn irritating. Why do people do it? And they like to give stupid answers or comments.

Do you try and convert all Atheists or just those who seem like you can? For example, I happen to know for a fact that I will never ever convert. Honestly I think why are people emailing me and answering my questions trying to get me to convert.

So, what is it really? Is it ego? Why not just obey your lord and master and not cast your pearls before swine. I'm swine, don't try and convert me anymore. No more emails or answers from Christians trying to convert me. Is that safe?

If you give an answer thats a real answer thats one thing, but the heh jim why not give jesus a try, please don't.

Is that a compromise?

I propose Q from Star Trek invented the universe. Since we should teach evolution and intelligent design and let the kids decide and we cant prove evolution or intelligent design, can we also teach that Q invented the universe?

Should the children decide?

I'm an athiest and my family is constantly telling me that believing in God is the only way to save myself. But belief is not something you DECIDE on, it's something you either have or don't. So are there any Christians out there that can explain to me why I would want to worship a god (if one exists) that bases everything on faith but then doesn't give me the faith that he requires? Does it occurr to any of you that this is incredibly screwed up? And don't tell me I know it's true down deep, because I really genuinely don't believe in it. I'm not saying it for attention or any of that crap, it just seems completely ridiculous to me.

I know this question has been asked several times before. I've read the answers and none of them were satisfying. I'm looking for just one Christian to give me a satisfying answer that doesn't require already having faith that God exists. I don't have that. Just one person give me a REAL answer to this question. I don't believe it's possible.
