Hi Jim, If you are the Jim Darwin that has been here for at least as long as I have, you know that this section is for all types of questions that fit into the Religion and Spirituality category. A user can choose to read or answer any questions that they want to. This includes questions on the Bible, or Christianity, paganism, Wiccan, atheism, agnosticism, Hindu, Muslim, Zoraastrianism, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, comparative religions, etc. or even take a break and answer questions from the WSIDR. As long as the questions and answers are respectful, they are all allowed.

To me, sprituality means a belief in a certain higher power. I just happen to believe in God, the "I am" of the Bible.

I believe in Christ's morality, but I don't trust the bible entirely, and I don't think most of the christian religions follow Christ's teachings. I like Islam's philosophy of respecting the prophets and teachers of all religions, but I don't know much more about it. I am sure Islamists have the same problem as Christians, the churches don't follow the real teachings. I like most of buddhism, especially Zen Buddhism. I like yoga philosophy a great deal, I find no flaws in it.
I should hope anyone who has questions or thoughts about religion and spirituality feels free to share them on this site. From me anyway, welcome!

There are a lot of us here who do not subscribe to Christianity, so in answer to your first question...yes, and deedledee gave the definition of spirituality. It would be nice if everyone here could remember that this is the Religion and Spirituality section. Not the "Christian" section...there are all kinds of forums for them on-line.

It is possible. I ask a lot about Yoga (the spirtual and enlightenment practices, not the stupid physical routine people do, although that works to). Nonetheless, it is nice for people to "try" to convert people to their path but that is soley on the person's judgement.

Spirituality by the way, in a narrow sense, concerns itself with matters of the spirit. The spiritual, involving as it may perceived eternal verities regarding Man's ultimate nature, often contrasts with the temporal or with the worldly. The central defining characteristic of spirituality is a sense of connection to a much greater whole which includes an emotional experience of religious awe and reverence. Equally so, spirituality influences matters of sanity and psychological health. As with some forms of religion, the emphasis of spirituality is often on personal experience. It may be an expression for life perceived as higher, more complex or more integrated with one's worldview, as contrasted with the merely sensual. In Eastern traditions, spirituality (adhyatma) is also defined as that which pertains to the soul (atma).

No this section is just not about bible questions - I think some seem to forget there are more than just christianity here. It is about all religions and spirituality.

Spirituality is something inside one that does not require a religion to have. Therefore, people with no religious preferences or no beliefs in deities can use this board. This is not an exclusive board to one belief system.

Yes, I don't know why it wouldn't be permitted. Your questions are intelligent and usually ask something that causes thought in a spiritual context... whether religious or not. Maybe I don't understand your question, but if it is concerning the questions you, personally, ask; I don't see a problem.

of course they are permitted, I've tried asking some, but all i get are answers like 'read the bible', and 'Jesus is your Savior', or 'Jesus died for your sins'. I'm not a christian, i don't even believe in religion or god, why can't people answer without preaching? is it some kind of a disease??i really don't get it
