You are not a random quirk of nature. You are created for a reason, as are your children, if you have any. If you are a random quirk of nature, then, in the grand scheme of nature, life is meaningless. That belief is a dead end, and is not true.
You can have very good reasons to believe in God, I do, but, the last step is always one of faith.
The thought was never to have comfort, thought that has been gained. I learned spiritually, over time, and results in my life, that God is real.

The Bible says that God has put in every one of us the inner knowledge He exists some choose to follow and others turn it off. I know there is a God because I'm proof of it having gotten me thru the things I've had to go thru.Oh and it is such a comfort to know that we are never alone and He will always be there when no one else will be. I agree with you on the children. Parents don't send them and say they can make up their minds when they get older. How sad they are denied Jesus, my granddaughter has loved Jesus since she was 6. No, God is very real.

Actually the thought of God is not always comforting, since God also knows all the bad stuff that I have done too.
I believe in God because I have felt his presence from time to time, have seen him answer specific prayers (both mine and others), and have noticed that the Bible is backed up with tons of archaeological evidence.
--------------------------------------------
...Frank Morrison, a British lawyer of the 1930s, undertook an expedition to collect circumstantial evidence to disprove the resurrection. Such evidence, of course, is admissible in all courts of law in civilised countries to prove or disprove events of which there are no living eyewitnesses. When he analysed the evidence, he reached a stunning conclusion: The resurrection had actually taken place! Morrison presented his case in his book, "Who Moved the Stone?"
Another factor worth considering is the character of the disciples. They were eleven cowardly men who shut themselves in a room after the crucifixion because they were afraid. Yet what galvanized them into action so that within their own lifetime, much of the then known world could hear the message of Christ? Some of them paid for this message with their lives. Would they have done so if the resurrection were a hoax?...

you are right. The word "god" is there to make you comfortable but what I think is that there is some kind of energy (can be related to science) and even if god exists he doesnt take care, he rules. I am not being sarcastic, I believe in mankind and thats whats most important. There is something withing us, some people may call it god that keeps us going. Whatever it is its comforting and Karma is an important thing.

I without a doubt believe that there is a GOD. I can not look at a sunset or at the trees and the amazing things that the human body does without knowing someone had to have made this. It can't all just "be". I think we are ignorant to think that WE are the most intellegent life there is. There must be a creator who gave us the earth, all the animals and nature.
I just had a child about a year ago and I was amazed at his growth from a tiny heart beat at 5 or 6 weeks to now -- he is just amazing. I can not assume my husband and I just made him ourselves? There is more to my story than that -- a lot of prayer went into it and when I completely gave my heart to God about it my prayers were answered.

I imagine you are thinking these thoughts because you have never, well, so far in your life anyway, experienced any presence you would think was "God". Is that so? The reason I believe in God is because since I was a child, I felt His presence. Much later I came to know who that presence was, when I began studying the bible and recognized Him.
Therefore, it is because of Him and His reaching out to me....that I believe. By the way, it doesn't have to be anyone telling anyone about God. The bible says "all of creation speaks of the existence of God, that no man has excuse".

True belief in God and being a child of God is knowledge of it. You can not really explain it to someone who has not experienced it, but you do feel his presence and he does talk to you through many ways. I think many are raised with or with out belief and it is sort of routine to them, they don't really know what they say they believe. If you are really interested, you must seek God out and KNOW him. God will make himself known to those who really look for him.

In order for God to truly exist, s/he must exist to the individual. Otherwise, one is merely participating in a social phenomenon that comforts a thought of life’s purpose and/or death.
Its like this. God can only truly exist to me, s/he can only truly exist and interact with you, as God is the only person who ultimately knows you; better than you know yourself.... We interact together through referencing our personal relationships with God.
I believe that one can "test" their motives, or look at their lives as an indicator of the situation. Do you talk to God in your prayers, or just "keep your eyes closed" during church prayer?
Do you use God or does God use you?

God is not a person that sits on a big cloud watching everything you do. God is an entity of the mind. Use it as you choose or choose not to use it but don't push your choices off on me.

I think you should leave other's opinions alone and start by reading the Bible, which is the key to wisdom. Then you form your own believe in according to what you have studied.
