Since my question below got knowed back a few pages and there seems to be a question about debates today

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AqHkZEDeXkg90O2Mn0rKsEHsy6IX?qid=20060920083705AAWU4aA

There would be three teams:

Theists - This would be those who beleive in a god
Agnostics - Those who are not sure
Atheists - Those who "know" there is no god...

I put the word know in quotes to eliminate those atheists who use the phrase "I beleive that there is no god"..

Pick three members for each team (for a total of 9 participants), they have to be a semi-regular to regular poster in this section...

I am interested in web links that provide different theories on the
status of "god" in a distant future (say 5000+ years later) when
humans may have (will they?) achieved many of the abilities (like,
say, every imaginable comfort, super human abilities, practical
immortality) that we seek god's help in today's world.

Though I have categorized this under religion for lack of a better
category, I would prefer more of sites with objective
imagination/analysis as against those that espouse a certain religious
faith (however, not to exclude any extrapolation based on existing
religious faiths).

Thanks in advance.

can someone tell me which countries or religion did this?

who killed native Americans?
who started the World war I & II?
who gave WMD to Saddam to use it against civilians?
who gave Israel technical weapons to use it against Civilians?
who supported Bin Laden and Al-Quda? (while in fact Ben laden was kicked out from his country because of his suspicious terrorism behavior)
who is occupying Iraq now, and stealing its oil?
who is trying to terrorizing the middle East?
who is creating terrorism?

religion & spirituality category does it just cause tension between people?

the way i see it no matter what anyone posts there is always people ready to string you up for ur beliefs, no matter what they are. i was raised a catholic but now i have no belief in god or the bible, this is a personal choice. i have friends who r devout catholics and christians and who attend church regulary, i dont ever tell them what they belive in is wrong or phony, that is their right to choose.they also respect my beliefs but if i say im a non believer here in response to a question i get put down, why cant people just respect that everyone has different ideas. live and let live, my family r belivers in god and i love and respect them and they love and respect me for my own ideas.

i will never put anyone down wheather they b catholics christians muslims or any other religion, in fact im interested in how others perseive their faith, im happy in my life as it is,i dont feel like im missing anything

I feel its really easy to disprove an atheist. Just get God to appear on National TV and do really cool stuff like turning water to wine and walk on water. Then make Him say in a really cool voice, "Yes, I spoke to so and so and made them write the Bible. And I didn't charge any copyright fees. And yes, all other religions are bull crap" And finally He can upload a demo of Hell or Heaven on Youtube. It would make us atheists feel really stupid.

But I was wondering how can you disprove someone of their religion? Perharps if aliens descended upon our worlds and brought upon their own religion like the Son of God was really born on THEIR planet and they videotaped the whole incident, it would then be convincing enough.

PS: Don't tell me faith. Every religion has faith to show that they are right

So here's the follow up. If you knew of someone who was ill and alone, or who was ill and had young children at home, what would you do to help that person? To help that family?

Or would you do nothing at all?

Does Jesus honor His Mother? Yes He did and He does. As the perfect Man... He honors her in the most perfect way (and not just on Mother's day.)

Before you read on and answer, read this note:

NOTE: The Catholic Church DID NOT, DOES NOT, and WILL NOT teach that we should worship Mary or that Mary is a diety or some goddess.

We worship the ONE True God who is Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit and we ONLY worship God.

The Catholic Church teaches us to HONOR Mary... just like Jesus does.

So the question: Since Jesus honors His Mother Mary... "Do You Do What Jesus Does" (DYDWJD)?? Why or why not?

Well I did. His friend picked the subject of Darwinian evolution and the Bible. I responded, allowing Jim the opportunity to read and refute my answer. He hasn't responded and now claims he is busy. Is he busy? Should I not have felt a social obligation to write my half of the debate?

Note: my answer was not creationism.

Do you think one day in the future it might be possible for the church to recognize gay marriage? Can someone please explain to me why it is wrong for two gay people who love and charish each other not be allowed to marry?

To me it is the same as telling someone they can't drink from the water fountain because of their color. It all seems like it is very disciminatory. While one may not condone their lifestyle, this doesn't give one the right to discriminate because of it.

If you like, a 1-10 scale, 1 as not at all and 10 as completely accepted.

Or any other measure you so choose.

I had a dream that I was being man handled, but i dont know whom they where, they where holding my hands and feet so that I couldnt move. and I heard a voice from the ground floor of my home in the dream.
That was my dream...

After 4 days...robbers came to my home and took away money and valuables from the home...and my father who was at home recieved minor injury to the cheek.

Do you think there is somebody around us who tries to tell us about the upcoming dangers in life?

and unable to care for their home and family, do you...

Pray for them, and never think to stop by to prepare a meal or straighten up the house.

Stop by everyday, and do all that you can to help, at great inconvenience to you.

Never give them much thought one way or another.

Be honest. We all know people who have been ill. What have you done to make things easier for them?

Whats your opinion on Muslums? As in if you see them on the street, do you automaticly not like them? Do you wonder if their terroists or do you think past that and look at them as ordinary people?

I personaly don't judge them. Everyone does have the right to their own opinion but you should'nt judge someone on apperience only.
