I read one of the previous questions: [How does an atheist explain our origins?] ...and once again it left me with this question.

(I'm not an Atheist, but I don't believe in Intelligent Design)

my moto is, if your looking for jesus, ill help you find him. But i wouldnt push my beliefs or preach when not asked. That just seems wrong. People seem to think this is "un christian like" what do you think?

the trinity was formed at nicea and the Roman Catholic church made the trinity theory the official doctrine of the church. Nowhere in the bible does it say trinity and the council that made the theory was held in the third century, well after the bible was completed. My question is why do so many people take the words of men as truth instead of what the scriptures of the bible say?

I read a question from a self described atheist asking what type of God believers believe in. Atheists don't believe in a higher power, so how do they explain the "big bang", our origins and the interconnection of all life? Science can tell us how it all happened, but science can't tell us why. Can you?

I mean seriously, why is it such a big deal any ways? They already living together and having sex. What's the difference if they have a piece of paper with their signatures proving their commitment to each other?

Then why does religion try to scare people ( and especially children ) about 'burning in the fires of hell? if on the one hand as we are told,we are free for evermore of pain when we are a soul,then what is there to fear from burning in hell.WE WON'T FEEL IT according to that doctrine,so whats the point in scaring people into believing they will?I'd like it explained how something that has no nerves,skin,cells or anything else 'human',in the earthly sense,feels pain in ANY way.
Please no quotes from the bible.I'd like peoples OWN perceptions for a change.

is God just watching and having fun?
God wanted to make it tougher for us?
God wanted to show us he is boss?
God is different from people and needs to show the differentiation by not holding conversations with us?

Let me belie my atheist underpinnings for a moment and suppose there is indeed a god. Is it more likely that god is this bearded white man, akin to Zeus, holding holy court over the universe, keeping infinite lists of the rights and wrongs of all human beings who've ever existed, or is it more likely that god is something else? Like a force or an element or some type of being our minds are just not advanced enough to conceive?

As I stated I don't believe in any sort of higher power, but I am curious about how others come to terms with this notion of god...

This is kind of a spring off question...to a question I just answered...the question was posed as this...If the nazi were to come back today only they were going after people of your religion...would you deny your religion?? A lady answered that she would lie to save the lives of her children...so I am wondering, how many other people in 2006 feel this way? (I have no children...so I am curious)
