afterall self awareness dawned on the human race only about 80 to 100 thousand years ago right? that was the very moment the term religion came into existance, because our ancesstors came into contact with reality, and invented a powerful being who could save them from becoming extinct.
dont you think that the idea of a god is based on fear rather than reason?

When it turned year 2000, marking the start of new millenium, I kind of had feelings or thoughts in my mind that something would happen. Not like the Judgment Day or anything, but I thought something that will leave imprints in christianity would happen.
As we know, nothing happened in year 2000. Although we started to notice bad things happening as years went on such as 9/11, Iraq War, Tsunami, Earthquake, etc.
As a christian, were u surprised that nothing happend in new millenium? If you expected anything, what did u expect would happen in year 2000?

Many people have come with the assumption wiccans are like Merlin or some fictional world bending powerful witch. Personally I think the modern pagan religions have more posers than actual believers, its sad really. I was trained since I was 4+ in the wiccan religion and my mentor at the time was raised in it aswell and everything I learnt was my word of mouth. Because of the fiction behind the matter most pagan are misunderstood and because of lack of real writeings most writers have learnt they can BS a book together about it and get by very well. 80% of the books I have encountered are total BS. 95%+ where books after 1990. Because its not very well documented many people leave us alone but many don't understand us and give us "false labels" so for the REAL believers would you like more real wiccan/pagan writers out documenting facts so that maybe others of other faiths would understand our beliefs better (if they have open enough minds to start with) or to leave everything as it is

I have told him to straighten up...or I will never se him again...that was two years ago...he drinks even more now. I have come to the point that I have

I believe so, thus, do we really need religions to teach us morals? I never got anything out of the religious teachings I was subjected to. I found them flawed even at the age of 8.

Do you believe people were truly lost before written words that carried so much underlying hate?

i am a well travelled westerner and would like to ask you people a question that has been haunting me for years. i find that a lot of people nowadays are joining very extremists Religious groups, and that has become more of a fashion. mormon, hare krishna, bagawan sects, islam, fundamentalist christian and buddhist groups are doing good business. so many other small cults are flurishing too.
when i was studing philosophy this is what a teacher told me about fundamentalism. since science and new knowledge has wiped out practically every religious belief, people have lost hope and think that by been more extremist that some how or other God may become a reality to them

but no longer can we believe in a supreme god who controls the universe and life, can we?

I mean our president already talks to Jesus.
The republican's court the right wind fundamentalist christians and the rest of Americans who vote for them don't mind, or are too blind with fear to object to the one sided policies.

If we were a Christian Nation then we could persecute homosexuals openly, oppose stem cell research (it kills babies) yet wage war day and night (Jesus don't mind killin infidel babies) in God's name.

Well, what do you think?

We have FAITH IN THE AMERICAN SPIRIT which is designed for FREE-Thinking Men-unlike you who have to have yourself conditioned to follow a 2000 year old manifest that speaks to kings of kings for a KING that the US escaped from to begin with. So my faith is in my fellow American and that he will fight with me once again to KILL your manifest at the doors of Justice before it is brought forth as LAW unto a land of FREEDOM. Your God is THE SLAVE DRIVER AND YOU CALL HIM MASTER!-and his whip is HELL because he punishes those that do not do his will-BIG MAN oh I mean God-and this coming from a scrawny lil fairy you called Jesus and hung around with fraidy cats (John was so afraid he denied him thrice-so why wasn't God keeping him strong then?) Faith in your lil book-that calls YOU a SINNER-not me baby-I am a MAN Free in a world to LOVE Life! Liberty and the pursuit of happiness-you persue escape from hell and will put all of mankind through it so be true to yourselves and your fellow AmerI

So many blindly follow religious beliefs that have no reason and hurt other people. What's the point of following a belief if it has no reason besides the fact that you were told to do so? i.e. a belief that women are weaker than men, or those who blindly follow every word of the Bible, Do people like that just have no independent thought or ability to reason things out? After all, is following the words of God verbatim without questioning them sensible, and is it even compassionate since they discriminate so much since they were written in the time when slavery was legal and wifes were property? Oh and to all of those out there who will tell me "You're going to hell" or things like that... I appreciate you proving my point.

I believe this gift is there for all to use, it works either way, as long as the one saying the prayer, or the one receiving has faith, it could be either one or both. I like to try it somemore, I've seen miracles happen through Jesus Christ.
