When it turned year 2000, marking the start of new millenium, I kind of had feelings or thoughts in my mind that something would happen. Not like the Judgment Day or anything, but I thought something that will leave imprints in christianity would happen.
As we know, nothing happened in year 2000. Although we started to notice bad things happening as years went on such as 9/11, Iraq War, Tsunami, Earthquake, etc.
As a christian, were u surprised that nothing happend in new millenium? If you expected anything, what did u expect would happen in year 2000?

You are a year off. The year 2000 was the last year of the second millenium (the first century was from year 1 to year 100, the second was from 101 to 200, the 20th was from 1901 to 2000).

The new millenium didn't start until 2001.

And I wouldn't say nothing happened.

No. We are not even exactly sure when the millenium is...Historians believe that Jesus wasn't actually born in the year we refer to as 1 AD but in about 3. You also make the assumption based on numerology, which is flawed on it's dates (5,000 BC + 2,000 AD= 7,000= God's number) Well....maybe. Probably not quite right. There is also a theory that it isn't a millenium to watch, but 120 years...or rather 120 jubilees... or perhaps if a year is as a day...maybe 120,000 years....another theory is that when Jesus said he would rebuild the temple in 3 days, he meant it to tbe true on several levels. First, 3 days in the tomb, and then another 3 days (3000 years) to his return. Meaning we have a millineum left. Many other tracts of prediction (a dangerous thing) end up leading to 2006-2008. Not sure if that's for his return or for the antichrist's rise to power. In the end, all we scripturally know to be true is that no man knows the hour or the day. But even this has clues. The Jewish festival of Yom Teruah, or the Feast of Trumpets is referred to as "the feast that no man knows the hour or the day" because it requires the spotting of the New Moon in Jerusalem.

So no, I didn't expect anything to happen. I didn't stockpile food for Y2K, and I figure that if anything were to happen, He knows it and I don't have to. All I have to do is trust Him. He said it's going to be bad. It's certainly not going to take Him by surprise. So I live my life as if He's coming tomorrow and I plan for my and my children's futures as if it's going to be another 5000 years. Best to let HIm worry about the details.

No, because several cultures had already experienced a year 2000 without a problem. And there are some cultures that haven't reached 2000 yet. Since Christians were the ones in control when calendars were being established, everything ended up being based on the birth of Christ and events in the Christian year.
I've always thought that was rather egocentric. (I'm a Christian BTW)

No, not surprised at all. The world expected Jesus' return in 2000. He said "behold, I come as a thief in the night". No one shall know the day of his coming until he is here. Mathematically, though, Jesus was born in 6 BC. He died in 36AD. If the two-thousand years idel is correct, then we may be looking at 2034 before he returns. But... It has been said that a generation shall not pass from the time that Israel reclaims it's city until the coming of Christ. That happened in 1948. A generation is 58 years, making 2006 the answer... Who knows. The best bet is to live like He's on His way.

If you are interested in years, read a book called "Fingerprints of the Gods" by Graham Hancock. He goes through the calendar of the Mayans. It's really intriguing. According to their calendar, which if much more accurate the the christian calendar, 12/22/12 (if I remember correctly) is the year to watch. Either way, the book should open your eyes to other ways of thinking.

I totally agree with xzang and Derek K and the part where cappii01 said He said "behold, I come as a thief in the night". No one shall know the day of his coming until he is here.

God is patient and wants everyone to know Him as God and the Lord is gracious, gentle and kind, so them working together yeah, only God knows. It also says that not even the angels know when Jesus' second coming would be. Jesus doesn't even know, God will tell him saying "okay, nows the time, let's go!!!" :)

And Yes, Israel WILL need to come back to God before that happens.

I worked for space command during that transition. We worked for months before the change to make sure nothing would happen. Then we ended up changing all the systems over about 4 months before the new year...just in case.

We are your government, and we look after you even when you are sleeping.

You can't predict the second coming if that's what you're looking for. But with each new year, just know that god will be victorious and that he will bring revival yet again to a very weary world.

Plenty has happened like all the things you mentioned to get people to wake up and see that God isn't a conversation piece, myth, or something to get people fighting, all these things are happening to draw people towards God, not push Him away.
