If believing in the lord makes you happy, that's all that counts. The opinions of others don't matter. As a very wise friend once said to me, "Opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one."
And caring? As human beings shouldn't we all care about each other?

Personally I don't care if you believe in little green men. The problem is that the Christian religion, and the Muslim religion for that matter, have many adherents that would force others to believe as they do. The historical record speaks volumes about both. It's not a pretty picture. I don't need anyone telling me what to believe. I really don't care what their motivation is.
It took millions of years to develop our ability to think. It sets us apart from the other animals. I think we should use that ability to discern the truth. I have found no evidence that the Bible contains anything other than myths, legends and tribal tales. You are free to believe otherwise. If I could be guaranteed equal treatment from the fundamentalist right, I wouldn't waste one moment trying to convince some Christians that their beliefs are ridiculous. If I am offending anyone, my apologies, but it is the Christian fundamentalists that are trying to turn back the clock, we, non believing heathens, need to challenge what is going on.

It is not so much that I am right (my truths are my own).
Your lord has been passed off and handed down to you.
Had not a bunch of folks kept that story going, would you have found the lord? Would he come looking for you himself?
I take exception to all manor of major organized religion, because they create differences that preclude crusades, inquisitions, annihilation of indigenous peoples, terrorism and wars.
The sooner we all figure out that life is now, nature (the sun, the earth, etc..) provides all we need and are. The sooner humanity will have a chance to begin to realize it's potential.
To illustrate a sticky point....
The Bible.... 10 Commandments....one of which is thou shall not commit adultery....then god goes and slips one to Mary?...
Thou shall not kill, then god goes and sacrifices his kid?
Human sacrifice? From a top notch Deity? Come on! How archaic? It just won't do!
I am not saying you are wrong, just severely misinformed.
Study everything, avoid the religious stuff for a while, make some informed decisions on your own.
Truth will always be there, you can't lose it. Let it go, it will find it's way back to you.

Let's pretend we are both in the same archery club. You have been there for three years, and are an expert, but I am a new member, and a beginner.
So, we go out to the range to practice target shooting, you with your super-compound, 150lb bow, and me with my pink "beginners" bow (5lb test!). You blow paper targets to bits, and I can't even get an arrow close to one. Would you be kind enough to share a little "archery wisdom" with me, so that I could improve? Or, should you mind your own business, and let me continue to suck eggs?
If you DID share a few pointers with me, wouldn't it be really arrogant on my part to tell you off for it? To suggest there is no possible way you could know more than me about any of this?
AFTER ALL, don't we both believe in archery?
Just a metaphor. Think about it.

You can believe in whatever you want.
Hell you can worship cats for all I care.
Just don't come on here and tell everyone that believing in God is the only way to go it's so annoying and got old years ago.

The same reason you feel the need to shove the belief that a dead guy is God down my throat.
Christians: I believe in live and let live UNTIL you make your business my business. Passing insane laws based on your belief (No Gambling, No alcohol on Sundays, Religion in schools I pay for with my taxes), telling me what to believe and interfering with the advancement of our society (creationism).
Once you did that you interfered in MY life and now your beliefs are MY business!

a million Corinthians 7 it truly is a financial disaster on the topic matter of marriage. It makes it fairly sparkling that the bodies (and for this reason sexuality) of married couples belong to at least one yet another. Matthew 5:27-28 Adultery - ie sexual family individuals outside of marriage. in this section, Jesus says even lusting over someone is resembling adultery.

The only thing I care about is the disturbing trend of legislating the supernatural dictates and behavioral standards of any particular religion. There is a separation of church and state... that means freedom OF religion as much as it means freedom FROM religion.
Now... freedom FROM religion doesn't mean that I should be sheltered from seeing churches, worshipers, hearing about God, etc... what it DOES mean is that I shouldn't be required by LAW to behave or live in adherence to the mandates of any religion, belief or spirituality.

I believe too. Some things are just not negotiable. I think its perfectly OK not to believe, though. I cannot recall any one other than Christians telling me that I am wrong. They like to tell me that i am going to hell.

Because it is essential, if the Human Race is to survive, that the world become totally populated with logical-thinking, clear-minded, peace-loving people. We must rid the world of superstition and religious exclusivism and hatred, and we have to get rid of crazy notions like "baby killing," "an afterlife," "heaven and hell," "god is your parent," "Jesus hates [insert minority of your choice]" and so many others.
That is why it is essential for people who are not living on the basis of fear and who are not confused about the nature of life, the universe, and all that stuff to help people who believe in "god" to get over it. Otherwise we will go on starving each other, shooting each other, hating each other, marginalizing each other, and flooding each other.
The world becomes safe only when everybody understands that god is imaginary and life is what WE make of it. That's why we have to work with you on this until you outgrow it.
