Question for the real Christians. Do you let your children celebrate Halloween. I have been big on no but my wife sees nothing wrong with it. Any solid advise/opinions?

is it wrong for me to ask for prayers from christians for my wife? she was just diagnosed with level 3 cervical cancer. she is only 34. she is the mother of my 2 children and although we are no longer together she is my best friend and i still love her. i have caught some flak for asking from some christians for asking for prayers because i am a pagan. i was asking all faiths to send a prayer or a good thought for her. so i ask was i in the wrong?

Science has exploded with its contribution to humanity over the past 2000 years. Humans live on average so much longer. Contributions from technology, medicine, information, communication, discoveries about the universe, education, health, travel, food, the list is endless.

Religious people are quick to suggest that God gave humans the ability to use science to help humanity, and therefore God deserves the credit.

In the same vein then, what has God helped religion achieve over the past 2000 years?

I posted this on a slow board last night, and wanted to get additional perspectives:

If life starts at conception, as the prolife movement states, then fertility clinics are probably the site of more "killing" than abortion clinics.

if you're not aware, a much larger number of embryos are fertilized than a couple can use in these clinics because of the high probability that they won't survive. And the leftovers are discarded. Even those "moral" people who refuse to have them discarded pay to keep their leftovers frozen forever... so even then the idea should be monstrous... keeping a "life" in suspended animation indefinitely (isn't death preferable to that anyway?)

to be blunt, one flush in a fertility clinic probably carries away a month's worth of appointments at an abortion clinic.

Some religions are against IVF, but the clinics are never protested.
So, why aren't fertility clinics protested against?

I used to leave early (before the end of service on Sunday) so as to avoid taking communion (since I was never confirmed). I'm not sure why I am not able to do this though. Also, is communion always at the end of a service, what do I do if it is in the beginning or middle (do I leave?) thank you.

I was just wonderin, it would have been a good way to prove his point, even when he decides to grace us with his presence again (sarcastically)

Would humanity try to accept them as a natural part of our universe, or would we try to destroy them because they disprove the existence of God for some reason (like in the movie Contact)?

Another user asked the question:
Can a person smoke pot and still be a Christian?

And many of you answered "It's a sin."

What exactly makes burning a leaf from a plant a sin?

Assuming evolution is true, and the xian teaching that animals are automata without souls is also true, at what point in evolution did souls appear? (I'm a buddhist but would like an xian perspective on the answer).

I'm a christian I've been really struggling weather or I should leave my husband. I've been holding on thinking he would change, but he hasn't. The Bible says it's a sin to get a divorce. I just don't know what to do. I have three boys I have to think about. I want to do God's will and not what I want to do.

Science will almost certainly prove that life is common in the universe, that intelligent life exists on other earth-like planets, will control human evolution, and hopefully will prove whether the universe was created or otherwise, although the chances of any God being involved are remote.

Hopefully science will provide proof that God doesn’t exist and the universe contains an abundance of intelligent life-forms, then finally humans may come to their senses and stop killing each other in the name of God or religion.

What do you think religion will prove?

They know that there is no heaven but behave like good people because it is the right thing to do whereas Christians are so scared of hell that they behave themeselves, does that make any sense?

I just read a question regarding Devils Advocate and one idiot wrote that they were trying to ban Captain Atheism. That is just wrong. It is just like a fundamentalist fanatic to promote censorship. Every one has a right to their opinion, even yours.

If they can be banned than where can I complain about it?

I was just wondering. Every time I give an honest answer based on my beliefs, that doesn’t agree with Christianity I get the thumbs down. I know it isn’t all Christians, some are even open minded but it doesn’t seem like that right now so I figured I would give you ignorant fools a place to mouth off.

(I respect the beliefs of those who respect mine so if you are not a member of the Militant God Squad this is not meant to disrespect your beliefs. Only the lip synching Christians, the ones that know all the word but just don’t understand how to live it, you know the ones I mean.)

So lets here it worshipers of God version 2.0 with the Jesus patch, is the God Squad out in force today?
