I am a preacher! My husband is a preacher! We see nothing wrong with kids getting candy! However, We don't dress up in scary things! We do decorate for Fall inside our house and out! We use pumpkins and scarecrows, etc.! We use it as an opportunity to tell people about Jesus! We do give out candy too! This year as we trick or' treat we are going to give out candy to the houses we visit ! Along with a paper about the LORD! Best Wishes! GOD Bless You and your family!

Our church has "Trunk or Treat" on Halloween. Church members congregate in the parking lot and hand out candy from the trunk of their cars. All kids in the community are invited. They dress up (no satanic costumes), get candy, and then there are games in the gym. We're not actually celebrating Halloween, it's a way of turning it into a positive experience and a way for the kids to have fun.

"real christians" Oh I get it, so you're not a "real christian if you celebrate halloween." Well, I have news for you dude halloween isn't the only pagan holiday so, if you celebrate christmas or easter guess what its just as bad as celebrating halloween. The christmas tree is a form of worship and the list can go on. if someone hands out candy to kids with a good heart and intention I think God looks at that fact.

I think the answer needs to be decided in the home. The church I attend says no to Halloween as well....but kids dressing up as little angels or Spiderman, whatever, and going out to get candy, I'm sorry, I don't see the big deal.
I wouldn't like to see them dressed as devils or witches, though.
I know some Christians would flip over this, but that's how I feel. P.S. If you and your wife are both Christians, you being the man of the house should have the final say.

Well, as a true Christian, I don't do it mainly because of the Satanic influence it could have, however that being said, celebrating Halloween (which I did every year as a child) isn't going to send you to hell. If I were you, I would pick my spiritual battles carefully and worry about the big stuff as the deity of Christ and what will get you saved or what will keep you from going to heaven. I don't know if your wife is a Christian or not but I wouldn't make a huge deal out of it.

I grew up Catholic and my parents allowed us to trick-or-treat, however we were NOT allowed to dress as devils, witches or monsters. I was once allowed to be Casper the ghost, but that character is pretty harmless. It is more about encouraging your children to dress up as honorable characters like the Saints or heroic persons from the Bible. Some churches have Halloween or ALL HALLOW'S EVE parties that are a better influence on children. If you take away Halloween you need to replace it with something just as fun to do.

My grandmother is the biggiest bible thumping person you could know but she still hands out candy to the kids and has taken my children out to get candy...And she sends cards. So is she sinning in your eyes
oh Yeah her church does a halloween party for the kids to...
What is a real christian.
I am pagan and proud and I am proud that my christian grandmother is open minded enough to let her children celebrate the holiday and dress up and have fun.

My mom is a die hard Christian and she lets my little brother celebrate halloween because it is what kids do. She does not want him to be left out like the kids who do not celebrate Christmas. I think she sees how it is part of being a kid you know, with all the free candy.

OK listen up all moronic, uneducated wannabe intelligent but couldn't if you tried 'Christians'. For the last time, Halloween is not, I repeat NOT a satanic holiday, nor is it an evil day. Halloween is: All Hallows Eve, the day before all Saints day. The tradition of dressing up like ghouls and ghosts comes from the superstitious belief that on All Hallows Eve, the dead would rise to spirit around with the living, thus, by dressing up, people would avoid the visitations. Secondly, the traditional witch on a broomstick is based on an actual old pagan custom of taking a broom, running and jumping up over a corn field. This was to ask the earth god Pan to have the crop grow as high as they had jumped. Finally, Halloween is not evil, it is not meant to glorify evil or satan in particular, it was and is merely a throwback to a time when people believed the spirits would walk among them the night before All Saints Day, a Christian holiday at one time. So please, please can we dispense with all the hysterics and let the children have one night of frivolity, must Christians truly be so anal in their thinking and so pathetic in their own fears. Truth be told, if a kid dressing up is enough to scare you or challenge your faith, you didn't have much to begin with.

have exciting!! i'm a real Christian and that i love Halloween. Its no longer about worshipping the devil or something. Its about the autumn season, cider generators, carving pumpkins, dressing up and spending time with the youngsters on the pumpkin patch. Its about having exciting and handing out sweet and going trick or treating. Its about having somewhat exciting being somewhat scared. So, as a real Christian, I have exciting on Halloween, playing the powerful climate and the eye-catching season that God gave us. ?

I don't have kids, but if I did, I'd either escort them while trick-or-treating, or I'd have them stay at home and help out with my haunted house/graveyard. Every year I set up some nifty little shindig at my house. Sadly, we haven't seen too many patrons (thanks to the media scaring parents sh*tless of Halloween), but at least it's something that pleases ME.
Halloween itself is just a sort of New Year's Eve for the dead before All Saints' Day, one of the holiest days of the Catholic calendar. Only recently has it been twisted into something that christians should fear. But why fear it? Take something evil that belongs to Satan, take it away from him and turn it into something fun and harmless, and what do you have? A huge slap in the face for the Fallen Angel, that's what! Take that, Satan! I'm having fun on a day that you're trying to scare me with! >:D
