is it wrong for me to ask for prayers from christians for my wife? she was just diagnosed with level 3 cervical cancer. she is only 34. she is the mother of my 2 children and although we are no longer together she is my best friend and i still love her. i have caught some flak for asking from some christians for asking for prayers because i am a pagan. i was asking all faiths to send a prayer or a good thought for her. so i ask was i in the wrong?

Hi Yobgdadyp, be practical! You are absolutely not wrong. On the contrary, it is wise of you to have thought of seeking moral universal support which is a human right. So, rather your question should be addressed to any human being supporting that stand, irrespective of one’s religious belief(s)! And, mind you, even a non-believer is a believer for that person as an individual also believes in something!

Forget about what people think or say! You keep focusing on what needs to be done to bring relief to your wife (or ex-wife?) and provide her and your children with whatever help you can to the best of your ability. That should be your prayer at this hour of need and that prayer of yours will be supported by prayers of everyone in the know of the plight of your family! Maybe, this crisis as it gets cleared will bring you two and your children together again (?)! Won't that be wonderful, Yobgdadyp, for you, your wife and your children?

More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of - in whatever form it takes! Keep focusing on what you believe in and doing in practice what you need to do - that is what the prayer is all about my friend! Nothing is incurable, impossible or impractical in today's world. Godspeed recovery to your wife!
Cheers.

I'm a muslim and I'm really sorry to hear about you wife. May God cure her and ease her pains. And if he chooses her to be with him, then may God forgive her and bless her,. I hope that your children will not be left alone. Anyway I hope that you will take good care of your children as they are the fruit of your love to you wife. May Allah help you all in this hardest time.
But my dear brother I have an advice: Do you think that my prayer for your wife will be strong as your prayer? Will my prayer be ths same as your prayer which comes from your heart? Do you think that I will have more feelings towards your wife than you?! so why don't try telling God about your feeling instead of asking prayers from strangers on Yahoo?

it is not wrong to ask for prayers from any one even if you are pagan
if you are getting flak from them then they are NOT being very christian and may be they need prayer also
now here is the reason you should never get flak from a christian because some how you may be converted
next i do not believe in organized religion because i have not found one i agree with but i am spiritual and can openly talk with anyone and have read the bible several times cover to cover
and to finish i will pray for her also

No your not wrong. You are doing exactly what you are suppose to do.
My prayers will go up for you and your family. For spiritual and health healing. For strength through this difficult time. Dispite what you claim to be God knows your heart and its filled with the love a man should have for his wife. The kind of love that only God can orchestrate.

May the peace of God be with you always.
God Bless you.

As soon as Israel started bombing Lebanon, they were hot and heavy on T.V., using it as a ruse to beg for money as usual.

Requesting a prayer is such a simple and kind thing to ask. I am not Christian, but have some powerful meditations that can whiz anywhere. You are an o.k. guy, don't be anyones door-mat.
So, my 2cents worth. You be the man, you be the bomb. The dad, the lover the friend, and she will remain here with her people. :)

Oh, and Vicky Kamal, your wife fogot to tell you to take out the garbage. Hog...

There's nothing wrond at all, every person reaches God in their own way... She'll be in my prayers.
My mom was diagnosed with cancer three years ago, and whatever anyone says, I think her faith and the knowlege that so many people were praying for her had a lot to do with her recovery. It gave her hope & made her want to fight for her life.
Tell your wife that lots of people are praying for her, and tell her that she has to WANT to recover, if only to see her kids grow up.
God bless her...

I don't think u were wrong just because u don't personally believe. No one should judge u, U r asking for her not to be convinced u r right/wrong as a pagan by christians and if they r any type of christian they will not judge u.
May God bless u and your family. I hope ur ex is at least comfortable and may God work a miracle and it just disappears!!!

Here's the atheist response...

Direct her to the website below, and see if she'll attempt to pursue an Alkalarian diet. (You don't need to buy any snake oil, like this site sells, just read about the diet) This diet makes the body more alkaline than acidic, and makes it very difficult for cancer to grow. It can also cause the cancer to shrink, and go into remission.

There is also a more drastic version of this type of therapy, wherein the patient drinks pure Cesium, which makes the body extremely alkaline, but this method tends to damage the kidneys, among other things.

Regardless, it's a very healthy way to eat. I have known two people who beat cancer this way, also. And judging by my family history, I'll probably need to do the same...

Edit - I'm on pins and needles, wanting to know what kind of moron gave a thumbs down to this post. I'm guessing that this fool literally would prefer that I pray, rather than post information that could literally save this woman's life...

My view of theists just dropped another notch, folks... :(

A pagan asking for help from God? At the very least, it sounds like you're on the right track.

Given your current religion, God may take it in strides if you did it yourself. Nothing pleases God more than a sinner (sorry if you take offense at that, but I'M one too *lol*) to realize the error of his ways and ask for His intervention. If you repent and ask Him to save your wife's life, one of two things will happen; she'll either get better and the two of you can start life anew, or she'll succumb to the cancer (which is most unfortunate. My apologies) and VERRRRRRY probably go to Heaven to wait for you.

Hope this helps. Keep praying!!! :)
